Yes, but only on Nintendo Switch 2 through the Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics library, and you need a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. The original Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED do not support that GameCube Classics library. If you have one of those systems, Nintendo lists Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and Luigi’s Mansion 3 as separate games for Switch.
How to play the original Luigi’s Mansion
Nintendo’s original Luigi’s Mansion was released for GameCube in 2001. It joined the Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics library on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 30, 2025. Access requires a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, rather than a separate original-Switch version of the game. Nintendo’s announcement confirms the game and membership requirement.
Nintendo Support says GameCube Classics are playable exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. That means the official GameCube Classics route does not work on the original Switch, Switch Lite, or Switch OLED. Nintendo’s support page explains which systems support the membership libraries.
Which Luigi’s Mansion games are available on the original Switch?
If you are playing on an original Nintendo Switch model, Nintendo lists these other series entries for the system. Neither is the original 2001 GameCube game.

Which option fits your console?
- You want the first game: Play it through GameCube – Nintendo Classics on Switch 2 with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
- You have an original Switch, Switch Lite, or Switch OLED: The GameCube Classics version of the original is not available on that hardware. You can play Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD or Luigi’s Mansion 3 instead; they are distinct entries, not versions of the first game.
Nintendo’s cited pages do not establish a current Expansion Pack price for every country. Check Nintendo’s local membership listing for the price and terms where you live.
