Use Rage Fist 20 times with Primeape, then make Primeape gain a level. Rage Fist is learned at level 35; if your Primeape has already passed that level without learning it, use the menu’s move-remembering option.
What you need to do
- Make sure the Primeape you want to evolve is in your party and knows Rage Fist. The move is learned at level 35. If your Primeape is already past that level and does not know it, open the menu and choose the option to remember a move. Nintendo Life’s evolution guide describes both the move and the remembering option.
- Use Rage Fist with Primeape in battle until it has been used 20 times. The evolution condition is tied to using the move, not simply reaching a certain level. Serebii’s evolution-method listing also gives the 20-use requirement.
- After the twentieth use, make Primeape gain a level. The level gain is a separate final step that triggers the evolution check.
If Primeape does not evolve
- Check that the Pokémon using Rage Fist was still Primeape.
- Confirm that Primeape knew and selected Rage Fist, and that you reached 20 uses.
- Make sure Primeape gained a level after those uses.
The available guides establish the 20-use condition and the level-up step, but do not establish whether missed, blocked, or otherwise ineffective attempts count, whether uses can span multiple battles, or what exact level-up alternative applies to a level-100 Primeape. Do not rely on those edge cases; follow the documented steps.
Which Pokémon evolves?
Primeape is species No. 0057 and Annihilape is No. 0979 in the official Pokédex evolution chain. Primeape is a Fighting-type Pokémon. The Pokémon Company lists Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet among its Nintendo Switch games. Official game information provides the platform context, and the official Primeape Pokédex page shows its evolution chain.
