Pick it up, then return to the elevator and activate the controls so Claptrap can ride up.
Where to find the elevator clearance device
- Continue Recruitment Drive until you reach the broadcast tower and the elevator objective.
- At the elevator, turn around and look near the railing for a corpse slumped against a crate.
- Move close to the body and check the back of its neck for a green-highlighted device and interaction prompt. Collect it.
The item is described as a chip, bolt, or device in walkthroughs; the useful landmark is the green-highlighted object at the back of the corpse’s neck. Game8 and Shacknews both place it on the body by the crate.

How to use the clearance
Return to the elevator and activate its control. Claptrap can then ride up, and the mission proceeds into the Abandoned Post safehouse sequence. PC Gamer also describes collecting the glowing neck device before using the elevator.
If you cannot find the interaction prompt
Walk right up to the corpse and inspect the back of its neck; the prompt can be easy to miss. The walkthroughs establish this as the intended pickup, but do not confirm a universal fix if the objective fails to update after you collect it.
