Catch Curioshell Crabs carrying coins
Look for Curioshell Crabs with a coin visible on their shell, then use the capture net to catch them. PC Gamer’s guide, published February 27, 2025, points to an underground area between areas 14 and 15 in the Windward Plains as a likely place to find one. When Alma spots a relevant creature nearby, the prompt reported by PC Gamer is: “Look! That creature seems to be holding something”. Follow the prompt and check the creature for a coin before attempting the capture.

If you have reached the relevant High Rank milestones, quests provide reported rewards without requiring you to search for a coin-bearing crab or gathering point.

- Windward Plains: areas 16 and 17 during Fallow.
- Scarlet Forest: areas 6, 8, and 12 during Plenty.
- Oilwell Basin: area 7 during Plenty.
- Iceshard Cliffs: area 5 during Fallow and area 20 during Plenty.
- Ruins of Wyveria: area 1 during Wyvern Tranquility and area 6 during Wyvern Stirring.
- Grand Hub: up the vines across from the Bowling area.

Check Rove’s trade options
PC Gamer reports that Ancient Wyvern Coins may be available from Rove after you unlock trading with him in the Iceshard Cliffs. High Rank players can access trading through Nata’s trade hub.
