How to Defeat Bio-Bulkhead in Borderlands 4

To defeat Bio-Bulkhead, use the Locust Canisters in the arena: grapple one and throw it at the boss to remove its immunity temporarily, then deal damage during the opening. Keep moving and stay back from its pounces and melee attacks; repeat the canister hit when immunity returns.

How to break Bio-Bulkhead’s immunity

1. Keep your distance. Bio-Bulkhead uses pounces and melee attacks, so move away rather than trying to trade hits at close range.
2. Find a Locust Canister. Canisters in the arena are the key to dealing with the boss’s immunity.
3. Grapple and throw. Use your grapple to grab a canister, then toss it at Bio-Bulkhead. A successful hit removes its immunity for a limited time.
4. Attack during the opening. Deal damage while the immunity effect is gone. When the boss becomes immune again, repeat the canister mechanic. The encounter guide does not specify how long the opening lasts.

Where the fight happens

Bio-Bulkhead is a boss in the One Fell Swoop mission. Game8 lists the Synthetic Nave as its location and corrosive as its weakness, but those are secondary-guide claims; the Epic Games Store encounter guide does not confirm them. The canister mechanic is the essential strategy established by that guide, and it does not identify a required weapon, build, or element.

What changed in later updates

Gearbox’s October 23, 2025 update notes say Bio-Bulkhead’s elemental icon was corrected and movement was smoothed to eliminate jitter after certain attacks. The notes do not describe a change to the canister mechanic or a new defeat strategy, so older visual or movement descriptions may not match every current build.

Gearbox’s December 11, 2025 update notes listed Bio-Bulkhead as a Weekly Big Encore Boss at that time. That was a dated rotation entry, not confirmation of the current weekly activity.
