To beat Fort Condor in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, check the enemy forecast, deploy units that counter the next wave, and use them to advance on and destroy the opposing boss. For Hard Mode, start with Balanced for stages one through three; on stage four, use Offense Focused and rely on ranged Trebuchets against the poison-protected boss.
How Fort Condor works
Fort Condor is a tower-defense-style minigame in which your objective is to destroy the opposing boss unit. The enemy lineup is shown on-screen, so use its forecast to decide what to deploy instead of spending ATB on units without a plan.
The basic counter cycle is:
- Defense counters attack.
- Ranged counters defense.
- Attack counters ranged.
Match your deployment to the enemy types coming next, then use the opening to push toward the boss. Placement and timing matter, but a single fixed sequence is not guaranteed to suit every player or situation.
How to unlock and replay Hard Mode
PowerPyx reports that the four Normal Mode matches are available through the Junon Phenomenon Intel activities in Chapter 4. Clear all four to unlock Fort Condor Hard Mode, then return to those activity locations to replay the matches. Hard Mode is a rematch mode; it is separate from the game’s combat-difficulty setting. Normal Mode: counter the forecast, not a memorized script
For each match, read the upcoming enemy units and deploy their counters. Once you have an advantage, keep advancing rather than leaving your units idle. GameSpot’s video walkthrough of all four regular levels shows one visual route through the matches: Level 1 at 00:34, Level 2 at 05:12, Level 3 at 08:58, and Level 4 at 11:45. Use it as a reference for timing and placement, not as a universal sequence.
Hard Mode: adjust your setup and preserve units
Hard Mode limits the units available to both sides, making deployment timing more important. PowerPyx recommends the default Balanced setup as a starting point for the first three stages; if one is giving you trouble, try Offense Focused. The guide recommends Offense Focused for stage four.

Stages one through three
Begin with Balanced and continue to counter the enemy forecast. Save hero units for a moment when several enemies cluster or a lane needs help advancing. PowerPyx specifically recommends Cloud and Barret for clearing groups or stabilizing a difficult push.
Stage four
PowerPyx reports that the boss’s poison aura kills melee units, so sending them directly at it is a poor plan. Clear the enemy units first, then position Trebuchets in front of the boss so they can attack from range. The ranged approach avoids exposing melee units to the reported poison effect.

Can changing combat difficulty help?
PowerPyx advises setting the game’s combat difficulty to Easy because it speeds ATB recharge and may make the minigame matches easier, including Hard Mode rematches. Treat this as guide-reported advice, not a confirmed official rule about Fort Condor’s difficulty settings.
