The most direct documented route to Putrified Ducts is through Memorium, and it requires the Faydown Cloak for its double jump. From Songclave in the upper-right Choral Chambers, reach Memorium, uncover the passage in its ceiling beyond the bench, then cross the bridge and continue east. A second entrance from Bilewater reaches only the ducts’ lowest room.
Reach Putrified Ducts through Memorium
- Get the Faydown Cloak. Its double jump is needed for this route. From Songclave in the upper-right part of Choral Chambers, travel west until you find a moss-covered gap in the ceiling, then double-jump through it to enter Memorium. PCGamesN’s route guide describes this entrance.
- Find the hidden passage. In Memorium, go east past the resting bench to the apparent dead end. Jump into the torn hanging cloth in the middle of the ceiling to reveal a passage above. The passage is associated with the Lost Merchant Wish, but the route guide identifies it as the way forward.
- Cross to the ducts. Drop onto the large bridge and get past the flying enemies. At the far end, use careful jumps to cling to the overhang and reach the path heading east. Avoid the spike pit along the way; continue east to enter Putrified Ducts.
Can you enter from Bilewater instead?
Yes. A route rises from Bilewater’s highest point, beyond the arena in the Bilehaven/Groal area, after the passage there has been opened. It leads to the lowest room of Putrified Ducts, beside the Huntress’s dwelling. A gate blocks access to the upper ducts from this side, so use Memorium if you need to reach the upper region or find the map. The community-maintained Hollow Knight Wiki entry also describes the area connection and entrance limitation.
Find the Putrified Ducts map
- After entering from Memorium, go east to the tall chamber.
- Descend and take the first doorway leading left into the western section.
- Jump so a Barnak’s tongue lifts Hornet. Avoid the spike-lined walls, then attack four times near the top to break free.
- Head a short distance east to reach the map alcove.
These map directions are also covered in Shacknews’ Putrefied Ducts map guide. The area name is spelled “Putrified Ducts” in the game-area references and “Putrefied Ducts” in that guide’s title.
Which entrance should you use?

Useful landmarks in the area
