As announced by The Fun Pimps in 2024, 7 Days to Die 1.0 was planned as a broad update to character and armor systems, locations, world generation, graphics, and performance work. The developer also named PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S for a Console Edition and outlined three post-1.0 roadmap phases. Those roadmap quarters were targets, not guarantees; the dated announcements cited here do not establish what shipped afterward or what the roadmap is in 2026.
What was new in the 7 Days to Die 1.0 announcement?
The Fun Pimps’ developer diary, published February 21, 2024 and edited June 18, 2024, described the planned 1.0 feature set. It covered gameplay systems as well as visual and technical work; the diary did not provide benchmark measurements for its performance-related changes. Read the developer diary.

Armor, characters, and appearance
- Overhauled armor: themed sets included farmer, lumberjack, and commando. Players could mix pieces, with set bonuses for wearing matching gear. First-person hands were also planned to reflect equipped gear.
- Character updates: selectable base models, appearance customization, redone animations, updated shaders, and a profile editor.
Zombies, animals, and vehicles
The plan included texture variants for zombies, updated animal art, and vehicle art that changes based on installed mods.
Locations and world generation
New points of interest named in the diary included an army camp, school, hotel, commercial strip, football stadium, and apartment building, alongside more wilderness locations. Random world generation was also slated for changes: lower memory use, faster stamping and road generation, road smoothing and mountain carving, preview and interface changes, less blocky biome placement, and the return of the burnt forest biome.

Art, graphics, and performance work
Other announced work included recycled-material pallets, campsite tents, road decals, new blood and dismemberment effects, contact shadows, and ambient occlusion. Technical changes included a window-tinting system, an update to Unity 2022 LTS, a lighting update manager, and spreading block-entity spawning across multiple frames. The developer said balancing was still ongoing. These were announced changes, not independently measured performance results.
Is 7 Days to Die 1.0 on PS5 or Xbox?
The 2024 diary named PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S for the Console Edition, alongside Windows, Mac, and Linux. It said the console and PC games were intended to have the same features and content. That is the developer’s stated plan at the time; it does not by itself confirm present-day content parity or crossplay.

The announcement also described a 25% discount for eligible owners of the legacy PS4 or Xbox One Telltale edition, subject to console policies. These are historical launch details, not confirmation that the discount remains available. See the June 20, 2024 announcement on Steam.

The Fun Pimps’ June 20, 2024 Steam announcement described 1.0 this way: “The 1.0 Edition brings more optimizations, polish, quality-of-life improvements, new content, new features, and new gameplay systems than ever before.” This is the developer’s characterization, not a measured comparison. The same announcement described a three-day 1.0 Streamer Weekend involving more than 250 streamers from 30 countries and using 16 languages; those figures refer to the event, not game sales or player population.
