Vendetta is an Overwatch 2 Damage hero who fights with a hard-light greatsword. Her six core abilities combine sword attacks, a frontal block that spends energy, and moves that help her close distance. Blizzard’s Season 20 announcement, published December 2, 2025, called her “the first melee DPS Hero in Overwatch history.”
Who is Vendetta?
Blizzard’s official Vendetta profile identifies her as Marzia Bartalotti, a 29-year-old Damage hero from Rome, Italy. Her story ties her to the Bartalotti family, Talon and the Colosseo: after her father, Antonio Bartalotti, died, she lost the inheritance she expected and trained in the Colosseo’s gladiator games before becoming known as Vendetta.

In its Season 20 announcement, Blizzard presented Vendetta as a close-range fighter who lunges, slices, leaps and closes distance. That is the company’s description of her intended positioning, rather than a measured performance claim.
Vendetta’s six core abilities
Blizzard’s hero profile lists six abilities. The descriptions explain their roles, but do not provide cooldowns, damage values, ranges or other numeric combat statistics.

How the abilities work together
Approach and reposition
Whirlwind Dash rushes Vendetta forward as it attacks, while Soaring Slice has her throw her sword and fly toward it. Blizzard’s descriptions make these the clearest tools for changing distance; they do not establish exact travel distance or cooldowns.
Choose between blocking and spending energy
Warding Stance blocks frontal damage and deflects melee attacks, but blocking depletes energy. Projected Edge is also tied to the stance and consumes energy to fire its wide projectile. The descriptions therefore frame the stance as a choice between defense and an energy-spending attack, without specifying how much energy either action uses.

Fight at sword range or use the projectile
Palatine Fang’s combo swings and Sundering Blade emphasize close-range sword attacks; Projected Edge supplies a wide projectile during Warding Stance. These are distinctions implied by Blizzard’s ability descriptions, not a tested comparison of their effectiveness.

The six abilities above are the core kit on Vendetta’s hero profile. Stadium has separate, mode-specific powers: Blizzard’s February 2026 live patch notes document her arrival in that mode and adjustments to powers including Skycut, Defiance Core and Furious Friction. Those power names and changes belong to Stadium, not to the six core abilities; the patch notes are the relevant source for changes made in that mode.
