Dragon’s Dogma 2 has four regional enhancement styles—Vermundian, Elven, Battahli and Dwarven—and a separate final upgrade called Wyrmfire. Each regional style favors different stats or knockdown effects, so the right choice depends on your equipment and build; there is no established universal best.
How the enhancement styles differ
The regional styles apply different broad priorities to equipment. The descriptions below reflect two secondary guides published in March 2024; they do not establish exact, item-by-item stat formulas. Check the particular item’s displayed changes and material requirements before committing resources. Prima Games’ enhancement guide and Pro Game Guides’ enhancement guide describe these broad distinctions.
Vermundian
Available from merchants in Vermund, Vermundian enhancements offer a balanced spread of stat increases. Pro Game Guides also reports a slight weight reduction. It is a general-purpose option when you want broadly useful gains rather than a strong tilt toward physical or magical stats.
Elven
Available in Sacred Arbor, Elven enhancements emphasize Magick and Magick Defense, while providing smaller gains to physical stats. Pro Game Guides reports that Elven upgrades reduce weight. This makes the style a natural candidate for magic-oriented equipment, though the physical-stat gains are less prominent.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Battahli
Merchants in Battahl offer Battahli enhancements, which emphasize Strength and Defense with smaller gains to magic-related stats. Pro Game Guides reports a slight weight increase. Consider it when physical performance is the priority, and compare the actual item changes rather than assuming every piece gains identically.
Dwarven
Dwarven enhancements emphasize knockdown effects on weapons or knockdown resistance on armor. Pro Game Guides reports that they increase weight. Access involves an unlock route; Prima Games identifies Drabnir’s Grotto as the route, but the sources do not establish a sufficiently verified quest sequence to give exact unlock steps here.

Wyrmfire is a final enhancement, not another regional style
After equipment is fully enhanced, the Dragonforged can apply Wyrmfire. Prima Games places the Dragonforged northeast of Battahl’s capital and describes Wyrmfire as increasing stats while reducing weight. Unlike the regional enhancements, it uses Wyrmslife Crystals rather than gold, according to Prima; check the in-game prompt for the exact cost of the item you plan to upgrade.
How to choose an enhancement
- Compare the stats that matter to your build. Favor Elven for a stronger magical emphasis or Battahli for a physical emphasis; Vermundian is more balanced.
- Account for knockdown. Dwarven is the style associated with more knockdown power on weapons and more knockdown resistance on armor.
- Check the weight change. The guides report reductions for Elven and Wyrmfire, and increases for Battahli and Dwarven. Vermundian is also reported to reduce weight slightly by Pro Game Guides. These are broad descriptions, so inspect the specific item.
- Consider access and cost. Regional smithies are in different areas, Dwarven requires an unlock route, and Wyrmfire uses Wyrmslife Crystals.
- Read the item’s upgrade preview. The guides do not provide a systematic formula or verified universal upgrade order, and the result can depend on the equipment being enhanced.
What is not established about mixing styles
Some coverage mentions combining enhancement styles, but the cited guides do not establish an optimal order or quantify what mixing does. Treat the displayed changes for the particular equipment as the reliable basis for a decision; no general mixing strategy is supported by these sources.
