Metacritic’s current all-platform listing gives it a 78/100 from 49 critic reviews; selected reviews praise its multiplayer and presentation, while criticism often targets the campaign and a formula that felt too familiar.
What is the Metacritic score for Call of Duty: Ghosts?
Metacritic currently lists an all-platform Metascore of 78/100 from 49 critic reviews, classified as “Generally Favorable.” Its displayed review breakdown is 35 positive, 14 mixed, and zero negative. These are figures on Metacritic’s current listing and may change if its review set changes. Metacritic’s Call of Duty: Ghosts listing also separates critic reviews from user ratings; the user score is not part of the critic Metascore.
The all-platform number is not a substitute for an edition-specific score. Metacritic’s page indicates that platform aggregates vary, but the available platform summary does not unambiguously identify every score-and-review-count pairing. For that reason, the other listed figures should not be assigned to particular platforms here.
What did critics like—and what did they criticize?
Multiplayer and presentation earned praise
Selected reviews on Metacritic highlight the game’s presentation and its multiplayer. God is a Geek’s excerpt describes it as “Big, brash and absolutely stunning.” Eurogamer Spain praised multiplayer as fun, while judging it less inspired than before. These excerpts illustrate individual reactions; they are not a tally of all 49 reviews.

Some reviews also found value in the game’s familiar strengths and additional modes. Push Square called the multiplayer addictive and singled out Extinction as a highlight, even as it criticized the broader formula.
The campaign and lack of change drew criticism
Other selected excerpts are less positive about the campaign and the series’ evolution. GRYOnline.pl characterized the campaign as weak while praising multiplayer. Push Square described the game as solid but familiar, with only minor adjustments, and said Extinction stood out within a tired recipe.

Taken together, the excerpts suggest a mixed critical picture beneath the favorable aggregate: multiplayer and presentation appealed to some reviewers, while others wanted a stronger campaign or more meaningful change. That is a reading of the cited examples, not a comprehensive coding of every review.
How did individual publications rate the game?
GameSpot lists Shaun McInnis’s review at 8/10 and identifies PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One versions in its listing. Metacritic’s aggregate combines critic reviews and reports its own classification; GameSpot’s score is one publication’s individual rating, so the two figures describe different things.

The critic consensus was favorable overall, not unanimous enthusiasm. The 78/100 Metascore reflects reviews that were positive or mixed on the current all-platform listing, while the selected excerpts show why reactions differed: multiplayer and presentation were strengths for some critics, but campaign quality and limited innovation were recurring reservations in others.
