How Gustave’s Charge loop works
Use multi-hit attacks to generate Charges, then save the full meter for Overcharge when you want a heavy burst. The January 10, 2026 Gamer Guides reference reports that Lumiere Assault hits five times and each critical hit generates an additional Charge. It reports six hits for Strike Storm, with each critical generating two additional Charges. These are guide-reported mechanics, not independently tested here. Choose between Lumiere Assault and Strike Storm
- Lumiere Assault: Use it when its multiple hits can produce extra Charges through criticals.
- Strike Storm: Use it for dependable Charge generation when you can afford its AP cost. Gamer Guides lists it at 7 AP.
Prepare a target, then spend the meter
Mark an unmarked target with Marking Shot before the burst when the mark improves Gustave’s next heavy hit or a teammate’s follow-up. When the Charge meter is full, use Overcharge for the single-target burst. Gamer Guides lists Overcharge at 4 AP and reports that a full-Charge Overcharge can deal maximum damage and Break; those mechanics are from its January 2026 guide.

When to use Overcharge, Shatter, or Powerful

AP-start and on-kill effects can help Gustave return to Strike Storm, but the build remains usable before every suggested Picto and Lumina is unlocked.
How to allocate Gustave’s attributes
Use the scaling shown on the weapon you have equipped as the starting point. The sources do not give identical stat-priority wording for Lanceram: the current guide says to follow the equipped weapon’s scaling before considering Luck for critical hits and Might for direct damage, while Gamer Guides describes Lanceram as scaling with Vitality and Agility. Check the weapon’s displayed scaling in your game and tailor your attribute mix to that weapon and the Charge loop you want; do not copy a fixed endgame allocation as if it were universal.

- Equip Lanceram when available and check its current scaling before allocating attributes.
- Build around the four core skills: Overcharge, Lumiere Assault, Strike Storm, and Marking Shot.
- Use the skills according to the encounter: build Charges with multi-hit attacks, mark when it helps the coming burst, and reserve Overcharge for a full meter.
- Add the recommended Pictos and Lumina as you unlock them: Dead Energy II, Augmented Attack, Marking Shots, Energising Start I or II, Burning Shots, and Versatile.
- Adjust the flex skills: take Shatter for groups or Powerful when a party damage buff is more useful.
