The Special Edition brings Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return to modern storefronts with an archival museum, but the available official listings alone cannot establish whether its controls, performance, or technical condition make it a satisfying way to play. What they do confirm is the adventure’s rescue-and-revenge premise, the release date, and a substantial collection of historical extras.
What is Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return Special Edition?
This is a Special Edition release of Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return. Steam lists Limited Run Games as publisher and Limited Run Games and Whoopee Camp as developers. Steam gives the release date as December 15, 2025. Steam’s listing

What the Special Edition adds
Steam describes an archival museum featuring classic packaging and manuals, advertisements, merchandise photos, previously unseen design documents, and high-resolution original artwork. These materials give longtime fans a way to explore the game’s history alongside the game itself; the listings do not establish how the museum is organized or how it looks in play.

Does it hold up as a modern way to play?
A review of the playing experience depends on details the store descriptions do not verify: how responsive movement and combat feel, how clearly the game communicates objectives, how it presents on current hardware, and whether the port runs reliably. Without firsthand play observations, it would be misleading to call the Special Edition polished, faithful, or technically sound—or to judge whether its conveniences improve the original experience.
For the same reason, there is no substantiated comparison here between platforms or editions. The official listings do not establish differences in performance, language or soundtrack options, saving or rewind features, or included extras across versions.

The clearest case for the Special Edition is its combination of Tomba’s rescue mission and a museum of historical materials. Whether it is the best way to revisit the game—or a good first way to discover it—hinges on hands-on qualities that the official listings do not document. Treat the museum and confirmed premise as known features, not proof of control quality or port reliability.
