As of October 8, 2026, neither game is free to claim through that promotion, and both are listed on Epic’s store as paid digital editions. Epic’s Free Games page now rotates a new free title every Thursday, so that page is the place to check for current giveaways.
What the January offer was, and when it ended
Both games were offered together as part of an Epic Games Store giveaway that started at the beginning of 2026. A January 1, 2026 report by the Spanish outlet 3DJuegos, Epic Games empieza el año con dos juegos gratis, gave January 8, 2026 as the deadline for claiming them. That report is the basis for the end date here. We have not found an archived Epic promotion page that confirms the date, so treat January 8, 2026 as the reported end of the offer rather than a figure taken from Epic’s own records.
Are the two games still free right now?
Not through that promotion. Epic’s product pages for both titles show purchase options, and neither page presents an active free claim. Prices and regional listings change, so the amount you see depends on your store region and the day you look.
How to check for this week’s free games on Epic
Epic’s current giveaway system is different from a single two-game promotion. The steps below show how to find what is free at any given time.

- Includes the Eight Princes expansion
- Strong focus on the hero characters in the game
- For the first time, the multi-award-winning game series dives into ancient China
- Open the Epic Games Store Free Games page.
- Read the current offer block at the top of the page. Epic says new free games arrive every Thursday on PC and mobile.
- Check the claim window shown on that offer. Epic’s free titles are time-limited, and a game you do not claim before the window closes will not stay available.
- Sign in to your Epic account and confirm the title appears in your library after you claim it.
If a game you want is not on the current page, it is not free at that moment. Check the page again on the next Thursday rather than relying on an older article or a screenshot.
About Total War: THREE KINGDOMS
Epic describes the game this way: “Total War: THREE KINGDOMS recreates epic conflict across ancient China in an age of heroes and legends, combining gripping empire-building, statecraft and conquest with stunning real-time battles.” The campaign is set in China in 190 CE, the period when regional warlords competed for control of the crumbling Han court.

Epic describes Wildgate as “a PvPvE multiplayer shooter that blends tactical ship-to-ship combat with fast-paced first-person action.” It is a multiplayer game in which players fight other players and computer-controlled opponents, with crew roles and ship management central to play.
- Modes: Epic’s listing describes Artifact Brawl, Fleet Battle and Treasure Hunt.
- Fleet Battle: Two teams of up to 12 players each, according to the listing. The mode includes ship upkeep, crew abilities and procedurally generated maps.
- Platform and credits: The listing shows Windows as the platform, Moonshot Games as developer and Dreamhaven as publisher.
How the two games differ
The two games are not substitutes. Total War: THREE KINGDOMS is a long-form strategy game built around campaigns, diplomacy and army battles. Wildgate is a shorter-session multiplayer shooter built around matches. If you are choosing between them, the question is whether you want a single-player or cooperative campaign, or competitive multiplayer matches against other people.

What to do if you want these games
Because neither game is currently free through the January promotion, the practical options are to buy them at the price shown on the store page in your region or to watch the Free Games page for future giveaways.
