Township rewards a patient, flexible approach: you can grow crops and make goods, develop a town, play match-3 puzzles, and take part in events rather than relying on one activity alone. The game is free to play, and its official listings say basic play is possible offline; competitions and additional features require an internet connection.
Why Township calls for patience
Playrix describes Township as a blend of city building, farming, and match-3 puzzles. Its listings also feature town decoration, limited-time events, regattas, and competitions. These are different ways to engage with the game, so progress is not framed around a single activity.
The support center’s separate help topics—farming and production, barn capacity, expansions and building materials, factories, puzzles, events, teams and regatta, purchases, and progress—illustrate how many systems a player may be balancing. They do not establish exact production times, reward rates, or a most-efficient order for completing goals.
What to focus on as your town develops
Longer-horizon town goals
Town construction, expansion, and production give you broader goals to return to. You can decide which town or production objective matters most to you, while keeping in mind that materials, storage, and factories have their own support categories. The available official material does not prescribe an optimal sequence.

- You are the Mayor : Cleverly plan and construct a thriving woodland town of cute critters, and don't let it fill up with wasted resources!
- Spatial Puzzle : Your town is represented by a 4x4 grid on which you will place resource cubes in specific layouts to construct buildings and score points.
- Simultaneous Play : No downtime between turns as players are drafting resources and building at the same time.
- Endless Replayability : Every game is a unique puzzle as you choose a different set or combination of available buildings for each time you play.
Shorter play sessions
Match-3 puzzles and event activities offer alternatives when you want to focus on something other than town development. The official descriptions identify these as parts of Township, but do not quantify how their rewards compare with farming or construction progress.
Choose a pace that suits you
A practical way to approach the game is to choose one or two goals for a session, then stop when you have had enough. You might focus on town development during one visit and puzzles or event activities during another. This is a pacing approach, not a guaranteed fastest strategy.

Is Township a waiting game?
Not exclusively. The game combines town building and farming with match-3 play, events, and other features. That mix lets you shift your attention between activities, but the official descriptions do not specify how long particular crops, goods, or buildings take to progress. Treat waiting as one possible part of managing several goals, not as a fixed schedule you can optimize from the available guidance.
Can you progress without spending money?
Township is free to play, and Playrix’s Google Play and US App Store listings say some in-game elements—including randomized items, according to Google Play—are available for purchase. Those disclosures establish that optional purchases exist; they do not show that payment is required to play or provide enough information to compare paid and unpaid progression. You can choose whether to make purchases, and should not treat them as necessary based on the official descriptions alone.

Can you play Township offline?
Both the Google Play listing and the US App Store listing say an internet connection is not required for play, while competitions and additional features need a connection. In practical terms, offline play is available for basic gameplay, but online-dependent features may not be accessible without connectivity.
