What role does the GR GT Prototype play in Forza Horizon 6?
Forza describes the 2025 GR GT Prototype as a “race-derived road car” and says the vehicle makes its video-game debut in Forza Horizon 6. The game is set in Japan, where the car is presented as a way to experience Toyota Gazoo Racing’s latest model. Forza’s announcement names the GR GT Prototype as a cover car alongside the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser.
The car is more than cover art. Xbox Wire reports that players drive it in the opening “Initial Experience.” Torben Ellert, Playground Games design director, described the segment as “the first 10 minutes of the game where you get to drive the car, almost as a prelude.” Xbox Wire’s report says Playground Games collaborated with Toyota to represent both cover cars accurately.
When did Forza Horizon 6 launch, and where can you play it?
Forza Horizon 6 launched on May 19, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Premium Edition early access began May 15, 2026. Those dates have passed: Forza’s current game page lists the title as playable on Xbox Series X|S and PC. The announcement and current status are on Forza’s official game page.

How many cars are in the game?
Xbox Wire reported around 550 cars at launch. The GR GT Prototype is one of the featured vehicles, but the announcement does not provide its performance specifications or establish a real-world production or sale date. Its confirmed significance here is its cover-car role and appearance in the opening experience.
