Is Black Flag Resynced a remake?
Yes. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is the official remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, not a remaster announcement or an unconfirmed project. Ubisoft says it was rebuilt from the ground up using the latest version of its Anvil Engine. Ubisoft describes it as a faithful remake, while also confirming upgraded visuals, gameplay improvements and new content. When did Black Flag Resynced release?
The game released worldwide on July 9, 2026, and is available now. Ubisoft announced an official showcase for April 23, 2026, before the release. Ubisoft’s game page Ubisoft News

What is the story about?

What changed from the original?
Ubisoft confirms three high-level areas of change: upgraded visuals, gameplay improvements and new content. The publisher has not provided a complete public comparison detailing every revised feature or identifying exactly what the new content includes. It is therefore not possible to treat any particular mission, system or technical enhancement as confirmed from these descriptions alone.

Ubisoft reported that Black Flag Resynced sold over 3 million copies in its first week. That is the publisher’s July 2026 figure, not an independently audited total. In its April 2026 reveal article, Ubisoft also cited over 34 million players for the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, a reach figure shared in 2023—not sales of the remake. Ubisoft News
