The Kraken, also announced for Year 2, did arrive: Ubisoft confirmed the boss was live on February 10, 2026. The official updates reviewed here still do not verify that land combat shipped.
What Ubisoft announced for Year 2
In its April 15, 2025 Year 2 overview, Ubisoft scheduled land combat for Season 3, Guts and Glory, and the Kraken for Season 4, Eye of the Beast. The announcement called land combat “another long-awaited feature” and said Ubisoft would share more details closer to Season 3. It also cautioned that Year 2’s final content was still in development and subject to change. Ubisoft’s Year 2 overview

The Kraken is a live boss encounter
Ubisoft confirmed the Kraken was live with the February 10, 2026 launch of Eye of the Beast. The fight has five phases, with attacks that include whirlpools, tentacle slams, ink strikes, and poison fog. Ubisoft says the creature can damage multiple ships at once, making coordination useful when facing it. Ubisoft’s Eye of the Beast update
Has land combat been released?
The official updates cited here do not confirm that land combat shipped, but they also do not say it was cancelled. Its release status is therefore unverified in these sources. Ubisoft’s May 2026 Year 3 roadmap instead highlights a renewed focus on naval combat, progression, ship customization, and challenges. Season 1 introduced the Galleon, World Tiers, and a Seasonal Mastery Tree; later plans included the Junk and Fluyt, Trials, Abyssal Depths, elite bosses, and further progression and quality-of-life updates.
