What exists are independent guides, and the two most current ones, both dated October 2026, rank units on different bases and reach different results. Pocket Gamer’s list, updated October 8, 2026 for version 2.6.2, places units in an SSS tier based on its overall editorial judgment, and it ranks only the strongest EX units plus a few exceptions. GachaGo’s list, dated October 1, 2026, ranks 106 suits from S to D based on high-difficulty stages in the Japanese version, and it leaves out Master League. Read any placement as that guide’s recommendation for that guide’s scope, not as a verdict on the whole roster.
Neither guide organizes its ranking by a UR label, so this article uses unit names exactly as each guide prints them.
How the two current lists differ
The two guides are built differently, so their top tiers are not directly comparable. The table below sets out the differences that matter when you read a placement.
| Factor | Pocket Gamer | GachaGo |
|---|---|---|
| Date | Updated October 8, 2026 | Dated October 1, 2026 |
| Game version | Version 2.6.2 | Not stated |
| Units covered | Selected EX units plus a few exceptions, out of a roster the guide describes as over 800 units | 106 suits, ranked from S to D |
| Basis of ranking | Overall editorial ranking | High-difficulty stages |
| Regional version | Not stated | Placements reflect the Japanese version; names follow English localization |
| Master League | Not stated | Excluded, because that mode’s meta differs |
| Top tier | SSS, 15 units | S, 5 units |
Pocket Gamer’s SSS tier (updated October 8, 2026, version 2.6.2)
Pocket Gamer’s SSS tier contains the following units, listed as the guide names them:
#1 Best Overall
- A Beam Rifle, Beam Saber, and Shield are included
- The rifle can be attached to the back
- Parts from the shield can be seperated and attached to the shoulder of the MS
- The product box will have a Bandai Namco warning label, which is proof that you are purchasing an officially licensed Bandai Spirits product
- Assault Buster Gundam (EX)
- Burning Gundam (EX)
- Hi-Nu Gundam (EX)
- Full Armor Hyaku-Shiki Kai (EX)
- Altron Gundam (EW) (EX)
- Gundam Heavyarms Custom (EW) (EX)
- Unicorn Gundam (Destroy Mode/Awakening/EX)
- God Gundam (EX)
- Monster Black Dragon (EX)
- Z Gundam
- Strike Freedom Gundam
- Gundam AGE-2 Normal
- Gundam Astray Red Frame “Powered Red”
- Gundam GP03 (EX)
- Versal Knight Gundam (EX)
The guide gives role notes for only two of these units. It describes Monster Black Dragon as a support unit with range, enemy-defense reduction, and energy recovery. It describes Hi-Nu Gundam (EX), which the guide’s description spells as Hi-ν Gundam, as having strong MAP weapons, a large area attack, evasion, and a high hit rate. For the remaining units, the guide’s role descriptions are not stated, so a placement there should be checked against your own team and stage needs.
GachaGo’s S tier (dated October 1, 2026)
GachaGo ranks suits on high-difficulty stages, so its S tier reflects performance in that setting rather than general usefulness. Its S tier contains five units:
Rank #2
- MASTER GRADE SD BARBATOS is released from BANDAI SPIRITS MODEL KITS!
- 1. NO GLUE: All of the parts can be easily put together without any glue
- 2. EASY COLOR RECREATION: The one and only technology that enables four colors to be available in one set of parts, which we call it “runner”
- 3. RELIABLE HIGH QUALITY: We strive to use our experience and technology to deliver high-quality products to our users around the world.
- The product box will have a Bandai Namco warning label, which is proof that you are purchasing an officially licensed product
- God Gundam (EX)
- Gundam Double X (EX)
- 00 Raiser (Final Battle) (EX)
- Wing Gundam Zero (EW) (EX)
- Altron Gundam (EW) (EX)
GachaGo keeps a changelog that records additions, promotions, and demotions. In its October 1 update, it moved several familiar units downward, so a placement you saw on another site earlier may no longer match the current version. Check the date on any ranking before you rely on it.
Where the lists agree and disagree
God Gundam (EX) and Altron Gundam (EW) (EX) appear in both top tiers, which is the clearest overlap between the two guides. Three units appear only in GachaGo’s S tier: Gundam Double X (EX), 00 Raiser (Final Battle) (EX), and Wing Gundam Zero (EW) (EX). Pocket Gamer’s SSS tier includes a further thirteen units that GachaGo’s S tier does not, and GachaGo’s placement for those units is not stated in this overview.

Rank #3
- Gundam
- Super Deformed (SD)
- The product box will have a Bandai Namco warning label, which is proof that you are purchasing an officially licensed product
The gaps come mostly from scope. A list built on high-difficulty stages and a list built on overall editorial judgment will weigh area attacks, support effects, and survivability differently. Neither guide publishes a numeric scoring formula, so this article does not attempt to merge their tiers into one consensus.
Criteria to compare units yourself
If you want to build your own assessment from these guides, the following criteria are a sensible editorial framework rather than a published method from either guide:
Rank #4
- 004 Wing Gundam Zero (EW)
- Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz
- Bandai Hobby SD EX-Standard
- The product box will have a Bandai Namco warning label, which is proof that you are purchasing an officially licensed product
- Role: whether the unit attacks, supports, or both.
- Terrain coverage: how many battlefield types the unit handles well.
- Range and area utility: whether the unit can hit multiple targets or reach distant ones.
- Debuff or support contribution: for example, enemy-defense reduction or energy recovery.
- Mode fit: whether the unit suits high-difficulty PvE, Master League, or both.
How to choose which list to use
- Match the mode you play. If you play Master League, GachaGo’s list does not apply by its own terms. Pocket Gamer does not specify a mode, so compare its descriptions with your own results.
- Match the version. GachaGo’s placements reflect the Japanese version. Pocket Gamer’s list is for version 2.6.2, so check your game version against that before applying it.
- Match the role you need. A support unit such as Monster Black Dragon and an area attacker such as Hi-Nu Gundam serve different purposes, and a high tier for one does not mean it fills the same slot as the other.
- Check the date. Both current lists are from early October 2026, and placements change with each update.
Why the older list should not be used as current
Pocket Tactics published a list updated July 13, 2025. It is based on early playtest impressions and experience, and its placements predate the October 2026 roster. It is useful only as a record of how the game’s meta has shifted, not as a guide to current units.

Bandai Namco’s official SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL page describes the game as a Gundam strategy title. It is free-to-play with some in-app purchases, including loot boxes, and it is available on the App Store and Google Play. The official page’s update timeline includes September 24, 2026, and its featured video refers to Mobile Suit V Gundam being added to the Main Stage.

Rankings move when the roster grows, when balance changes arrive, when new banners or unit releases appear, or when the game version changes. Re-check the guides when any of those events occurs, and treat the dates on each list as the starting point for that check.
