Ubisoft’s February 2025 Siege X teaser previewed a major evolution of Rainbow Six Siege, not a separate sequel. Siege X launched on June 10, 2025, bringing refreshed maps, destructible environmental details, improved rappel navigation, an audio overhaul and the 6v6 Dual Front mode. Existing owners received the update for free; new players can use Free Access with limits on modes and Operators.
What the Siege X teaser meant
On February 17, 2025, Ubisoft announced Siege X and a dedicated showcase for March 13. At the time, the project was described as affecting much of the game, from gameplay to its overall look and feel. That was an early preview, not a complete feature list. Ubisoft later framed Siege X as a wide-ranging update and evolution of Rainbow Six Siege, which launched alongside Operation Daybreak, Year 10 Season 2, on June 10, 2025.
Siege X did not replace the game’s established tactical 5v5 attack-versus-defense mode. It added and revised elements around that core experience, while introducing Dual Front as a separate mode.
What changed in Siege X
Five refreshed maps and destructible details
For launch, Ubisoft updated Bank, Clubhouse, Border, Chalet and Kafe with revised materials and lighting. The maps also gained destructible environmental elements. Ubisoft’s examples include fire extinguishers that can create a concussion effect and smoke, and metal detectors that make noise and can be temporarily disabled or destroyed. These additions make parts of the environment more interactive without changing the basic premise of the core 5v5 mode.

Improved rappel navigation and audio
Ubisoft included improved rappel navigation and an audio overhaul among the launch upgrades. The announcement identifies these as areas of change but does not provide enough detail to quantify their effects across every map or platform.
Dual Front adds a separate 6v6 format
Dual Front is a 6v6 mode in which attackers and defenders can join forces, and respawning is part of the mode. It is available on PC and current-generation consoles, but not PS4 or Xbox One. It sits alongside the traditional 5v5 experience rather than replacing it.

Operation Daybreak also brought seasonal changes
Operation Daybreak launched at the same time and included a Clash remaster and balancing changes. Those are seasonal updates associated with the launch, distinct from the broader Siege X feature set.

Ubisoft released Siege X on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Amazon Luna and PC through Ubisoft Connect and Steam. For players who already owned Rainbow Six Siege, Siege X was a free upgrade. New players could start with Free Access, but the included modes and Operators were limited.

What to take from the original announcement
The teaser’s promise of a major transformation translated into a broad upgrade to the existing game: refreshed presentation and destruction on five named maps, movement and audio improvements, and a new mode with its own match format. The update arrived on June 10, 2025, so the teaser is now historical context rather than an upcoming reveal.
