Ubisoft Teammates is a playable research prototype, not a confirmed commercial game. Announced on November 21, 2025, it explores a first-person shooter where AI characters respond to spoken commands and an assistant named Jaspar helps players navigate the mission. Ubisoft presents it as a testbed for generative-AI gameplay, not as a game with a release date or announced consumer platforms.
What is Ubisoft Teammates?
Teammates is a short playable experience built to explore how generative AI might support gameplay. Ubisoft places it in a first-person shooter scenario: players can speak to AI-controlled characters, which the company says can react to commands, adapt to circumstances, and show distinct personalities.
Ubisoft describes characters as interpreting player intent and tone alongside environmental cues. Those are the project’s announced goals and capabilities, not independently measured results. Ubisoft also says it created an API to abstract generative-AI complexity and provide guardrails for issues such as hallucinations, bias, and toxicity; it has not published measured results for how effective those guardrails are.
What can Jaspar do?
Jaspar is presented as a personal in-game assistant. Ubisoft says it can recognize a player by name, help with onboarding, understand the game’s lore, point out threats or important objects, remind players of objectives, and suggest what to do next.

The assistant is also meant to interact with the interface: Ubisoft says Jaspar can manage HUD elements, open menus, and adjust settings. The announcement mentions visual adjustments that could support color-blind players, but this is a prototype capability—not confirmation of a released accessibility feature.
Is Teammates a real game, and can you play it?
It is a playable prototype, but Ubisoft has not announced Teammates as a retail game or provided a public availability date. Ubisoft’s November 2025 announcement and its later FY26 Q3 press release both frame it as a prototype exploring adaptive gameplay and real-time reactions. The official materials reviewed do not specify consumer platforms, hardware requirements, or when the public might be able to try it.

Because spoken commands are part of the concept, a microphone is relevant to the demonstrated interaction. Ubisoft has not said that a particular headset is required or published compatibility requirements.
How Teammates builds on Ubisoft’s NEO NPC experiment
Teammates extends Ubisoft’s earlier NEO NPC research into a more conventional gameplay setting. Ubisoft announced NEO NPCs on March 19, 2024, with a demonstration focused on generative-AI characters in a static environment, including unscripted dialogue and voice-to-chat. Teammates shifts the emphasis toward an FPS scenario, real-time voice commands, and squad behavior.

The earlier partnership should not be read as confirmation that NVIDIA or Inworld AI is a Teammates partner. Ubisoft’s Teammates announcement describes its own technology stack without naming those companies as partners on this project.

- Confirmed by Ubisoft: Teammates is a short playable prototype and technology testbed for experimenting with adaptive gameplay and real-time reactions.
- Not announced in the reviewed official materials: a commercial release, public access date, supported consumer platforms, hardware requirements, performance figures, or player-adoption figures.
- Still a stated aim rather than a published result: the effectiveness of its AI guardrails and the quality or reliability of character responses.
Ubisoft’s framing is exploratory. Narrative Director Virginie Mosser said the project is “really about experimenting with entirely new ways of creating interactive stories.” That makes the useful question for players less “When does the game launch?” and more “What parts of this prototype, if any, might influence future Ubisoft games?” The company has not announced a commercial product or roadmap for Teammates.
