A tier: strong alternatives
The Veiled Precision SMG, Suppressed Pistol, Hunting Rifle, Ranger Assault Rifle, Lock On Pistol, and Kinetic Blade sit one tier below. A tier is not a verdict that these weapons are poor; it records their position within this particular list and season.

Game8 ranked the Fury Assault Rifle, Surgefire SMG, and Oni Shotgun in B, and the Twinfire Auto Shotgun and Fire Oni Mask in C. A lower placement is relative to the guide’s comparison, not proof that a weapon cannot work in the right hands or loadout.
What makes one Fortnite weapon better than another?
Epic’s Fortnite Weapons Primer identifies damage, fire rate, magazine size, and reload time as useful weapon details. It also notes that rarity can affect damage, magazine capacity, spread, recoil, and other characteristics. These are practical comparison dimensions, but the primer is Creative documentation—not a live Battle Royale ranking.

- Role and range: Consider whether the weapon fits the distance at which you expect to fight. Epic describes assault rifles as fully automatic options suited to medium-to-long range, while shotgun pellet spread makes distance important to damage.
- Damage and firing pace: Damage per hit is only part of the picture; fire rate affects how quickly a weapon can deliver follow-up shots.
- Magazine and reload downtime: A larger magazine or quicker reload can matter during an extended fight, but the advantage depends on how the weapon is used.
- Accuracy and handling: Recoil, spread, and the ability to land shots consistently can outweigh a nominal damage advantage for a particular player.
- Rarity and the surrounding loot pool: Compare like with like where possible, and consider what other weapons and loadout slots are available in the season.
Epic recommends hands-on testing in its Creative context to understand a weapon’s benefits and limitations. That can help you judge whether its handling suits you, but it does not turn a personal preference into an objective tier placement.

A tier list describes a particular set of weapons and balance conditions. Epic’s Battle Royale Communities Team has explained that which weapons coexist in a loot pool can affect the meta more than a numerical stat adjustment. In its Chapter 7 Season 2 discussion, Epic described four shotguns with distinct roles: Chaos Reloaders reward a confident first shot, Iron Pumps favor accuracy and cover, Super Shredders offer reach in open areas, and Dual Hammers maintain pressure in extended fights. That is later-season context, not evidence for the Chapter 6 Season 1 placements above.

Later rankings also differ: PC Gamer’s Chapter 7 Season 2 guide places the Chaos Reloader Shotgun and Thunder Burst SMG in S tier and notes that rarer variants deal more damage. This illustrates why the January 2025 list should not be treated as current in October 2026. For any comparison, check that its season and patch match the loot pool you are playing; an unofficial weapon database may label a snapshot by date and version, but that is not the same as an Epic-verified ranking.
