That means buyers pay more per V-Buck at the listed prices. Epic also changed Battle Royale pass prices and rewards, reduced the V-Bucks grant in Fortnite Crew, and said existing gift cards still redeem at their printed values.
Why are V-Bucks getting more expensive?
Epic announced the changes on March 10, 2026, and said they would begin March 19. It explained: “The cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot and we’re raising prices to help pay the bills.” Epic did not provide a cost breakdown or a separate statistic to quantify the increase.

In the listed US-dollar packs, the cash price did not change, but the quantity of V-Bucks fell. So the practical increase is in the cost per V-Buck, not the listed cash price of those packs. The size of the reduction varies by tier:
| Listed US price | Before March 19 | From March 19 | V-Bucks removed |
|---|---|---|---|
| $8.99 | 1,000 | 800 | 200 |
| $22.99 | 2,800 | 2,400 | 400 |
| $36.99 | 5,000 | 4,500 | 500 |
| $89.99 | 13,500 | 12,500 | 1,000 |
These are Epic’s US-dollar figures, not a promise that every country, currency, storefront, or payment route uses the same prices or quantities. Epic says regional values differ. Its Epic Games Store page currently lists the four post-change packs shown above.

How many V-Bucks do you get for $8.99 now?
The listed $8.99 pack provides 800 V-Bucks, down from 1,000 before March 19, 2026. Epic also lists an Exact Amount Pack at approximately $0.50 for 50 V-Bucks before the change and $0.99 for 50 afterward; regional values may differ. Check the price and amount displayed for your region and payment route before buying.
What changed for the Battle Pass and other passes?
Battle Royale Battle Pass
Epic changed the Battle Pass price from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks. Completing it now awards 800 V-Bucks. Under the prior terms, players could earn 1,000 V-Bucks from the pass plus another 500 V-Bucks in Bonus Rewards. The new completion reward therefore no longer includes that previous 500-V-Buck Bonus Rewards amount. Epic’s announcement does not establish that every player will complete a pass, so the award is conditional on completion.

OG, Music, and LEGO passes
The announced OG Pass price changed from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks. Music and LEGO Pass prices changed from 1,400 to 1,200 V-Bucks, beginning with their next pass. These are V-Bucks prices; the cash cost to obtain the currency depends on the pack, region, and purchase route.
Fortnite Crew
The V-Bucks grant included with Fortnite Crew changed from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks. This describes the grant amount, not the full value or price of the subscription.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Can I still redeem an old V-Bucks gift card?
Yes. Epic says existing V-Bucks gift cards continue to redeem for the value printed on the card. That confirmation concerns cards already in circulation; it does not establish that a particular retailer has cards in stock or that they are available in every region. Check local availability and the card’s terms before purchase.
Can I use V-Bucks bought on the Epic Games Store on Nintendo Switch?
No. Epic’s store page says V-Bucks purchased through the Epic Games Store cannot be redeemed or used on Nintendo Switch. If you play on Switch, do not assume an Epic Store purchase will be available there; check the platform and payment route before buying.

Which purchases earn Epic Rewards?
Epic says eligible purchases made through the Epic Games Store or Epic’s payment system on PC, iOS, Android, and the web earn 20% in Epic Rewards, subject to terms. The stated offer is limited to those routes and platforms. It should not be treated as applying to purchases through every console storefront or payment method. Review the applicable Epic announcement and terms for eligibility.

What to check before buying
- Compare the V-Bucks amount as well as the listed cash price; the same US-dollar pack prices now provide fewer V-Bucks.
- Confirm the price and currency shown in your region, since regional values can differ from Epic’s US-dollar list.
- Choose a purchase route compatible with your platform; Epic Games Store V-Bucks cannot be used on Nintendo Switch.
- For a gift card, distinguish Epic’s confirmation that existing cards redeem at printed value from whether a retailer currently stocks one.
- For a pass or Crew subscription, compare the V-Bucks cost or grant with what you expect to complete or receive; a listed award is not guaranteed unless its conditions are met.
