Urban Myth Dissolution Center is a story-led mystery adventure about investigating internet urban legends, not a conventional action-horror game. Its premise and psychedelic pixel-art presentation may appeal if you want an episodic supernatural mystery; however, the available evidence does not support a firsthand verdict or a critic-wide consensus. Steam user reviews provide one favorable but limited signal.
What kind of game is Urban Myth Dissolution Center?
SHUEISHA GAMES describes Urban Myth Dissolution Center as a mystery adventure built around internet urban legends, with serialized drama, detective-story-like scenarios, and psychedelic pixel art. You play Azami, a new investigator at the center, working with director Ayumu Meguriya to uncover the truth behind unusual cases. The publisher cites subjects such as a cursed box, a property associated with accidents, and another world. SHUEISHA GAMES’ launch announcement and its anniversary overview describe the premise and presentation.

That makes the game a better fit for players seeking narrative investigation and atmosphere than for someone shopping specifically for combat-focused horror. Those official descriptions establish the format and themes, but do not settle questions such as puzzle difficulty, length, scare intensity, or ending quality.
Do player reviews recommend it?
In 2026, Steam displayed “Very Positive” English-language user reviews: 89% positive from 656 reviews. That is a snapshot of Steam users’ responses, not a critic aggregate, and it does not explain what those users praised or criticized. Review counts and ratings can change; check the current Steam listing for the latest figure.

#1 Best Overall
- Great product!
The publisher also reports that the game received the Japan Game Awards 2025 Excellence Award. That recognition is useful context, but neither an award nor a storefront rating substitutes for an independently sourced review of the game’s moment-to-moment play.
Which platforms can you play it on?
The original release is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam. SHUEISHA GAMES announced those versions for February 13, 2025, while Steam lists February 12, 2025; the sources differ by one day, so the dates are best understood as each source’s own release listing rather than reconciled into one. The publisher’s launch notice links to the console storefronts, and Steam maintains its own listing.
iOS and Android editions followed on March 19, 2026. The publisher says the mobile release retains the original graphics, scenario, and gameplay, adding touch controls and four selectable frame designs. Those are the publisher’s statements about the port, not an independent comparison of versions. Its mobile launch notice lists iOS 15.0 or later and Android OS 13.0 or later as requirements.

The publisher’s mobile notice lists 13 languages: Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Hindi, and Arabic. It gives the Japanese mobile launch price as ¥1,980 including tax. That is a Japan-specific launch price, not a current price for every region or storefront; check the store in your country for availability and pricing. The publisher’s Japanese mobile notice also provides the regional launch details.

The official Steam announcement for version 1.3.0 documents several convenience and replay options: chapter selection after clearing the game, adjustable character movement and text-display speeds, automatic text advance, post-clear dialogue fast-forward, and the option to carry collected urban myths and database entries into a second playthrough. It also notes minor bug fixes and text corrections. These details apply to the Steam update announcement; they do not establish that every platform has the same feature set. See the official Steam announcements for the update information.
Quick Recap
Who should consider playing it?
- Consider it if you enjoy serialized mysteries, investigations into urban legends, and a distinctive pixel-art presentation.
- Check the version details first if you plan to play on mobile: confirm regional availability, price, language, and device compatibility in your local app store.
- Look for a fuller independent review if your decision depends on puzzle challenge, playtime, technical performance, or how frightening the game is; those points are not established by the sources cited here.
