No—not as an official, supported Linux app. Microsoft documents Xbox Game Bar as a Windows-integrated overlay, and the Microsoft materials reviewed do not provide a Linux edition or installation route. If you want to record or stream games on Linux, OBS Studio is a separate option; it does not recreate Game Bar’s Xbox social widgets or full feature set.
Why Xbox Game Bar is not a Linux app
Microsoft describes Xbox Game Bar as a customizable overlay built into Windows and opened with Win+G. Its widgets provide access to features without leaving a game, but Microsoft’s technical documentation describes a widget as a Windows UWP XAML app rendered inside Game Bar’s interface. That documented architecture is Windows-specific; it is not a standalone Linux application.
Microsoft’s current Xbox on PC page describes Game Bar features and lists Windows 10 and Windows 11 for the Xbox PC app, but does not give a Linux installation path. The conclusion is limited to Microsoft’s published documentation: it does not document or support Game Bar on Linux. That does not rule out unofficial experiments, but there is no supported Linux release to install.
Microsoft’s widget overview was last updated March 25, 2020. It establishes the documented widget architecture, not a recent announcement about Linux compatibility. Likewise, a 2019 Xbox announcement described Game Bar as built into Windows 10. It noted that some games, including some using Vulkan, might require windowed mode for the overlay; this historical caveat should not be read as a claim that all current Vulkan games have that limitation.

Choose an alternative by the feature you need
Game Bar combines several jobs. On Linux, decide which one matters rather than expecting a single replacement to reproduce the whole Windows overlay.
| What you want | Linux option supported by the cited sources | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Record or stream gameplay | OBS Studio; the OBS Project recommends its first-party Flatpak for Linux users. | OBS is a separate application, not an Xbox overlay, and the cited source does not claim Xbox social-widget parity. |
| Xbox chat, social features, and Game Bar widgets | No official Linux Game Bar option is documented in the Microsoft pages cited here. | The sources do not establish a Linux substitute that reproduces those Xbox-specific features. |
| In-game capture, audio controls, and monitoring in one overlay | Game Bar offers these functions on Windows; select Linux software according to the individual function you need. | The sources do not identify one Linux tool that duplicates the complete integrated feature set. |
Using OBS Studio for capture or streaming
If your goal is recording or broadcasting gameplay, OBS Studio can meet that need without being a Game Bar port. The OBS Project’s Steam FAQ points Linux users to its first-party Flatpak distribution. Consult that page for current distribution details, then configure OBS as a separate capture and streaming application. The cited documentation does not promise that OBS supplies Xbox chat, social widgets, or Game Bar’s integrated overlay.

What about Wine or Proton?
Microsoft’s cited documentation does not describe or support an installation path for Xbox Game Bar through Wine or Proton, and the sources do not establish how every Game Bar component behaves in those compatibility layers. Treat such setups as unsupported rather than assuming the Windows overlay will work because a game does.
