What “region locked” means for PS5 games
There are two different compatibility questions: whether the main game on a disc can be played, and whether account-delivered content associated with that game will work. Sony’s regional guidance addresses Store content and services; it does not say that every imported PS5 base-game disc is either guaranteed to play or blocked from playing.

Will an imported PS5 disc play on your console?
The official guidance cited here does not give a blanket yes or no for imported base-game discs. A regional warning about DLC should not be treated as proof that the disc’s main game is locked to a console region. For a specific import, check the edition’s packaging and confirm its licensed region with the retailer or publisher if it is unclear.
Check the disc’s licensed region
Sony advises checking the small print on the back of the game box or asking the retailer which country/region license applies. This is especially important if you plan to buy add-ons or in-game currency through an account registered in a different region. Sony’s disc and add-on guidance

Why DLC and in-game currency can be a problem
Disc games and Store purchases are handled differently. Sony says a game disc must be licensed for use in the same country/region as your account for you to use related PlayStation Store content, including add-ons and in-game currency. That means an imported disc may present two separate questions: whether the base game plays, and whether the account’s Store content is compatible with that disc edition. Check the disc license before buying DLC or currency; do not assume that an add-on from one region will work with a disc licensed for another.

Vouchers and Store catalogs follow the account region
Voucher codes must match the account’s country/region. For a physical voucher, Sony says to look for a country/region flag printed on it. Store content and services also vary by account region, so a game, add-on, or service available in one country may not be available in another. Sony’s account-region guidance
You cannot change an account’s country/region
Sony says the country/region selected when an account is created cannot be changed later. You can check the setting in Account Management by opening Your Information and editing Residential Address. Sony PlayStation Support

If DLC is missing or will not work
Sony’s PS5 troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the disc’s licensed region against the account, confirming the purchase and installed add-on, restoring licenses, and reinstalling the content if necessary. Sony’s PS5 DLC troubleshooting steps
- Confirm the disc’s licensed country/region using the box’s small print or the retailer.
- Check purchase history and verify that the add-on is installed.
- Restore licenses using Sony’s PS5 instructions.
- If the DLC is still missing, follow Sony’s instructions to reinstall it.
