Yes, but Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 does not offer a conventional RPG romance system. Its romance-related moments center on conditional “romantic feeding” with named vampires. That is different from feeding socially on humans, and it does not mean Phyre can romance any NPC or established human partner.
How does romantic feeding work?
Project creative director Alex Skidmore described the feature as “a kind of romantic feeding.” He said there are points with named vampires where players who handle events well can have a romantic feed. The interview establishes that these scenes are conditional, but does not provide a complete, developer-confirmed trigger walkthrough. PC Gamer’s 25 March 2025 interview with Skidmore is the clearest statement of the design.
Narrative director Ian Thomas described vampire romance as “very different amongst vampires, and non-traditional.” He added that relationships can be romantic or political alliances—an approach shaped by vampires spending a long time among the same people.
Can you romance NPCs, and who can you romance?
A post-release PC Gamer romance guide reports that romantic-feeding opportunities involve primogens and depend on relationship standing and story progression. The guide describes two possible approaches: repeatedly succeeding at flirtatious interactions, or progressing through a route associated with unlocking a primogen’s clan powers. It says the game does not clearly explain the triggers, so treat these as guide-reported findings rather than guaranteed, universal rules.

The guide lists Fletcher, Mrs Thorn, Niko, Onda, Patience, and Silky as primogens players can flirt with. It describes Safia separately as a platonic relationship. These reported options do not amount to a broad system for romancing any NPC.
Is romantic feeding the same as feeding on humans?
No. The game presents several feeding contexts, and the language around one should not be mistaken for another.
Rank #2
| Context | What it means | What the sources establish |
|---|---|---|
| Romantic feeding | A relationship-related moment with a named vampire. | Conditional on interactions and circumstances, according to creative director Alex Skidmore’s interview with PC Gamer. |
| Social feeding on humans | Feeding outside combat, which can be portrayed as sensual. | Skidmore describes a vampire’s bite as “the kiss” and says humans are left dazed after a feed. |
| Combat feeding | Feeding in a fight. | Skidmore characterizes combat feeds as “lethal, horrible,” distinguishing them from social feeding. |
The official Paradox developer diary on hunting and feeding covers the broader system rather than romance triggers: feeding is part of the core gameplay loop, restores health, and matters for using Discipline abilities. Feeding in public where people can see Phyre violates the Masquerade.

Paradox’s developer diary on blood resonance explains that emotionally resonant blood contributes to ability progression. It also says that roleplay choices affect conversation outcomes and that clan contacts can offer blood to restore access to clan abilities. Those systems provide context for feeding, conversations, and powers; the diary does not confirm the specific romantic-feed routes reported by the guide.
