Angle snapping is a mouse-side feature that tries to straighten cursor movement by correcting small deviations. VALORANT has no angle-snapping switch in its settings; if your mouse supports it, you would find the control in that mouse’s software. The correction can make a line look straighter, but it can also suppress small aim adjustments, so it is generally a poor fit for FPS play.
What is angle snapping in Valorant?
Angle snapping is a form of mouse input correction, sometimes described as prediction or smoothing. The mouse detects a movement direction and adjusts small deviations so the reported path is more linear. The correction happens before VALORANT receives the input: it changes how movement is reported, not the game’s aim behavior, and it does not lock your crosshair onto targets. TRN Checkpoint’s explanation distinguishes it from aim assist.
For example, while moving the mouse mostly horizontally, the software might reduce a slight upward or downward deviation. That can make a line in a drawing app appear straighter, but your hand and the movement the game receives may no longer match as closely.
Should you use angle snapping for VALORANT?
Usually, no. The benefit is a straighter-looking path; the trade-off is less faithful tracking of small hand movements. A slight vertical correction while aiming horizontally might not register as you expect, which can matter when adjusting a crosshair onto a target. Pulsar’s support article, written by Pulsar Yaco and dated June 4, 2026, says: “We do not recommend using it in games that require tracking skills, like FPS games.” Pulsar’s explanation also notes that the corrected input may not match the player’s hand movement.

There is no published quantitative study or VALORANT benchmark in the sources cited here that establishes an accuracy gain, loss, or ideal setting. Treat angle snapping as a personal mouse-processing preference, not a proven aim improvement. If your goal is more consistent aim, practicing controlled straight lines and adjusting DPI or in-game sensitivity for comfort avoids relying on software to rewrite the path.
How do you turn angle snapping on or off?
- Check whether your mouse supports it. Look up the exact mouse model in the manufacturer’s current documentation or software. Not every mouse has the feature, and its name and location can vary by device and software version.
- Open the manufacturer’s mouse software. Search its settings for “angle snapping” or a similarly named input-correction option. VALORANT’s menus do not contain this control, and brand-specific menu paths can change, so use current instructions for your exact model rather than assuming a universal path.
- Record the original setting. Before changing it, note whether it is enabled or disabled so you can restore the previous state and make a fair comparison.
- Compare the effect outside the game. Pulsar suggests drawing straight lines in MS Paint. Try the same movement with the setting off and on, then compare how straight the line looks and whether small changes in direction still feel responsive.
- Choose the setting that preserves the control you want. If you test it in VALORANT, pay attention to whether small vertical corrections remain responsive and whether the reported path feels consistent with your hand. Switch it back off if the correction feels intrusive.
What to compare when testing it
- Line appearance: Does a horizontal or vertical stroke look straighter in a drawing test?
- Small corrections: Can you make a slight vertical adjustment while moving horizontally, or does the mouse seem to ignore it?
- Input feel: Does the cursor path feel like a faithful reflection of your hand movement?
- Model support: Does the manufacturer document the setting for your specific mouse and software version?
This is a practical comparison, not a controlled performance test. A straighter drawing-app line does not establish that the setting improves aim in VALORANT.

Does Riot allow angle snapping?
Riot’s keyboard and mouse troubleshooting article, attributed to Wolf and dated October 28, 2025, covers general input issues, including drivers, peripheral swaps, and configuration resets. It does not specifically address angle snapping or establish a current rule about it.
A 2024 Reddit post reproduces a purported Riot Support response warning that third-party apps are not officially supported and could create ban risk. That is an archived user report, not an authoritative current Riot policy statement. The available material therefore does not establish that angle snapping is categorically banned, nor does it guarantee that any particular mouse utility is safe. For policy-sensitive questions, rely on Riot’s current official guidance rather than treating an old community post as a ruling.

What if you cannot find the setting?
- Your mouse may not support angle snapping.
- The setting may use a different name or be available only in a particular version of the manufacturer’s software.
- Check the documentation for your exact model; a control shown in another mouse’s manual may not apply to yours.
- If you are troubleshooting mouse behavior in VALORANT, Riot’s general support article covers driver updates, swapping peripherals, and configuration resets, but it is not an angle-snapping guide.
