Some commenters were skeptical of WWE 2K26’s Attitude Era Edition because they wanted an era-spanning Showcase or story mode—not just Attitude Era-themed bonuses. The available Reddit discussions show that reaction among individual posters and commenters, not a representative view of WWE fans overall.
Why some fans were underwhelmed
In a January 25, 2026, post on r/AttitudeEra, the author asked what people thought of the game’s Attitude Era Edition and described “massive fatigue” with nostalgia being reused. They said they had expected a Ruthless Aggression Edition and compared the depth they wanted with WWE ’13’s dedicated Attitude Era Mode. The post also questioned whether the edition would be a “day-one buy” on the strength of its branding alone. Those are the author’s opinions, not poll results.
A separate discussion on r/WWEGames made a related complaint: that the cover art might be as much Attitude Era content as the game offered, given the lack of a dedicated Attitude Era Showcase or special story mode. Replies differed, so the thread is another example of skepticism—not evidence of a wider consensus.

This is the package and price in 2K’s announcement, not a statement of current store pricing or whether the bundle is worth its price. The official announcement lists the game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The Attitude Era, King of Kings, and Monday Night War editions became available March 6, 2026; the Standard Edition was scheduled for March 13, 2026. 2K’s WWE 2K26 announcement has the edition details.
The gap between the edition name and the Showcase
The central Showcase is “Punked: CM Punk’s Personal Journey,” which combines career milestones with alternate-history and fantasy “What if?” scenarios. The Attitude Era Edition adds era-themed items, but the official description centers the Showcase on CM Punk rather than presenting it as an era-wide story. That distinction helps explain why a buyer looking for a dedicated Attitude Era campaign might find the branding disappointing.

2K President Greg Thomas said the team had made “additions and improvements to every single game mode in WWE 2K26.” That is promotional commentary from the publisher, not an independent assessment of how substantial those changes are. For the specific concern raised in the Reddit threads, the relevant detail is that the announced Showcase is Punk-focused, while the Attitude Era content is packaged as bonuses.
How to compare the editions
2K announced the Standard Edition at $69.99 and the Attitude Era Edition at $129.99. The latter includes Premium Seasons 1–4 and the listed themed pack; the Standard Edition does not carry that announced edition bundle. The available threads support a narrow conclusion: some fans wanted a dedicated Attitude Era Showcase or story mode and were skeptical that themed extras justified the edition’s branding. They do not establish that WWE fans generally, or a majority, were unimpressed. Reddit discussions are self-selected, and the replies included differing views.

- Switch the style - Hats and caps can be removed for authentic entrances

Other official product details may matter to buyers independently of that debate. The PlayStation Store describes WWE 2K26 as having over 400 playable WWE Superstars and Legends and lists I Quit, Inferno, and Dumpster as new match types. The “over 400” figure is the publisher’s claim, not an independently audited count. The PlayStation Store listing provides its platform-specific description.
