Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s Update 7.0 Public Test Server (PTS) opened on March 13, 2025. Its “Trygon” notes were explicitly preliminary; the finished update went live on April 15, 2025, with several additions and some differences from the test preview. Here’s what players were invited to test and what shipped.
When did the Update 7.0 PTS go live?
Focus Entertainment opened the Public Test Server on March 13, 2025, alongside preliminary patch notes for Update 7.0, titled “Trygon.” The notes said they covered most expected features but could change while the team worked on bug fixes. A March 27 community update confirmed the PTS had launched on March 13 and said player feedback was being collected, with some feedback planned for an early-April PTS update.

What shipped in the live 7.0 update?
Focus’s April 15 release notes confirmed the central features from the preview: the Exfiltration PvE Operation, Prestige Ranks, Private PvP Lobbies, the Inferno Pistol, customization additions, and a broader PvE weapon arsenal. The live notes also listed PvE weapon-perk updates and matchmaking improvements for both PvE and PvP. The Space Wolves Chapter Pack and Imperial Fists Champion Pack were included as Season Pass content.
Rank #2
- Brand new. UK Import PAL version. Game in English. UK PSN account may be required for any online features.
The live notes specified a 50% increase to PvP match rewards and a 10% increase to base XP across all Operation Mode difficulties. These are values published in the April 2025 patch notes, not independently measured player-outcome figures.
How did the final notes differ from the PTS preview?
Inferno Pistol class access
The PTS notes listed the Inferno Pistol for Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy. The live notes listed it for Sniper, Heavy, Assault, and Vanguard. The March community update had specifically said Assault access would be added in the next PTS update, documenting one change made during testing.

Matchmaking remained experimental or subject to tuning
For Operations, the live notes described class-based matchmaking as an initial system intended to reduce matches with multiple players using the same class, while acknowledging edge cases and planned tuning. In Eternal War, skill-based matchmaking and team balancing were described as experimental systems that could be switched on or off while results were monitored.
Prestige mechanics in the release notes
The April notes said players could continue class progression beyond level 25 by resetting class progress and earning a Prestige Perk. Up to four perks could be active, and each Prestige Rank increased XP gain by 10%. Those are the mechanics described at launch in April 2025, not a statement about the game’s current balance.
