Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 offers a Quality and a Performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X, but Xbox Series S has Quality mode only. PS5 Pro has its own resolution ranges for both modes. The published frame rates are developer targets, not independent measurements of how steadily each mode performs in every battle.
Console modes by platform
Focus Entertainment’s official FAQ lists these console specifications:
| Platform | Quality mode | Performance mode |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | 4K at 30 FPS | Up to 60 FPS at 1080p |
| Xbox Series X | 4K at 30 FPS | Up to 60 FPS at 1080p |
| Xbox Series S | 1440p at 30 FPS | Not available |
| PS5 Pro | 1080p–2160p at 30 FPS, using PSSR | 1080p–1440p at 60 FPS, using PSSR upscaled to 4K |
The Series S distinction matters: the FAQ lists no Performance mode for that console. Its 1440p/30 FPS Quality mode is not the same specification as Series X’s 4K/30 FPS Quality mode.
What the modes mean in practice
Quality mode
On PS5 and Xbox Series X, Quality mode pairs a 4K target with 30 FPS. On Series S, the listed target is 1440p at 30 FPS. The FAQ gives these broad specifications, but does not detail every image-quality setting or how resolution changes during play.

Performance mode
PS5 and Xbox Series X list Performance mode at up to 60 FPS and 1080p. “Up to” describes a maximum target, not a promise that the game holds 60 FPS through every demanding scene. The FAQ does not provide scene-by-scene results or independent frame-pacing measurements.
What PS5 Pro changes
Focus Entertainment’s Patch 5.0 notes give PS5 Pro-specific resolution ranges: Quality mode runs at 30 FPS from 1080p to 2160p using PSSR, while Performance mode runs at 60 FPS from 1080p to 1440p and uses PSSR to upscale to 4K. The FAQ lists the same Pro specifications. Focus’s December 10, 2024 Obelisk announcement introduced PS5 Pro support and described its modes as up to 60 FPS in Performance mode and 30 FPS in Quality mode, with PSSR upscaling to 4K; the Patch 5.0 notes provide the more specific ranges.

PC features are not console modes
The official FAQ lists FSR 2 Super Resolution and DLSS Super Sampling support on PC. Patch 5.0 added FSR 3.1 and DLSS frame generation support; Focus’s Obelisk announcement also mentions FSR 3 and DLSS 3 frame generation. These are PC rendering features, not alternate labels for the console presets. The cited official pages do not establish one universal PC resolution or frame rate: results depend on hardware and settings.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How current are these specifications?
Focus Entertainment’s October 1, 2026 update announcement covers Patch 15 content and availability on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, but does not list revised graphics-mode targets. The most recent explicit mode specifications in the cited official sources are the FAQ and Patch 5.0 notes. That does not establish whether every later hotfix left performance unchanged.

The published specifications do not show independent testing of image quality, frame pacing, or sustained performance during large battles. To judge how consistently a mode meets its target—or whether one looks better on a particular platform—look for testing that identifies the platform, scene, and measurement conditions.
