Digital Foundry’s reported assessment of a near-final Crimson Desert build on PS5 Pro was positive: it called the game a “phenomenal experience,” while noting frame-rate dips in demanding scenes and some upscaling artefacts. The findings were reported by Push Square on March 12, 2026, and describe that pre-release build—not a current October 2026 retest or performance on the standard PS5.
What did Digital Foundry say about Crimson Desert on PS5 Pro?
Push Square reported that Digital Foundry examined a near-final PS5 Pro build and concluded: “The signs are looking good — and certainly for PS5 Pro owners, Crimson Desert delivers a phenomenal experience.” That is Digital Foundry’s assessment as reported by Push Square, not a statement from developer Pearl Abyss. The analysis was published March 12, 2026, and should be read as a report on the build tested at that time. Read Push Square’s report.

What graphics modes were reported?
The near-final build offered three reported graphics options. Their frame rates and resolutions are targets, not guarantees of locked frame rates or native rendered resolution.
| Mode | Reported target | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Performance | 60 fps at 1080p | Upscaling was used; the analyzed version showed some visual artefacts. |
| Balanced | 40 fps at 1440p | Ray tracing was reported as enabled. |
| Quality | 30 fps at 4K | Ray tracing was reported as enabled. |
Ray tracing was reported as enabled across all three modes. The source describes upscaling in Performance mode; it does not establish that the listed resolutions are native output resolutions.

Were there performance problems?
The report noted frame-rate dips in Performance mode in CPU-heavy situations, including crowded cities and busy battles with many effects. Digital Foundry’s overall impression remained positive, and its assessment was that those dips did not make the tested build feel poorly optimized. That is a qualitative judgment about the specific build, not a guarantee of stable 60 fps in every scene.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does this tell us how the game runs now or on standard PS5?
No. The analysis covered PS5 Pro and a near-final build, so it does not establish performance on standard PS5. Nor does it verify the game’s current October 2026 frame rate, image quality, or graphics options.
