Spoilers for A Way Out. Vincent betrays Leo by revealing that he is an undercover police officer and that their partnership was part of an operation to reach Harvey. Their final fight can end in either character’s death: according to a secondary game FAQ, the player who wins the confrontation survives.
Why Vincent betrays Leo
A Way Out follows Leo and Vincent, two prisoners trying to escape together. EA describes it as a co-op-only adventure built around trust and consequences. The betrayal comes later: a secondary FAQ says Vincent reveals he is an undercover cop, making clear that his partnership with Leo was tied to reaching Harvey.

That reveal turns their escape partnership into a personal conflict. EA’s official game and co-op pages establish the premise and characters, but do not independently document this plot twist or the ending.
What happens in the final fight
The reported outcome depends on which player wins the last confrontation. The Games Learning Society FAQ describes two possible endings:

EA presents A Way Out as a game for two players, with local and online co-op and split-screen presentation. Writer and director Josef Fares said at launch: “The game is designed so that players will need to build trust with one another by talking and making decisions together as they play.”

For practical setup, EA’s product page lists EA app, Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox, and says online co-op requires a persistent internet connection, an EA account, and a friend playing on the same platform or through the Friend Pass trial. EA’s current support page says an owner can invite someone on the same type of platform; on consoles, both players need an active PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core membership. Check EA’s live help page for current Friend Pass instructions and requirements.
