Unlinking a PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, or other platform account from Ubisoft can make content bought through that platform’s store unavailable on the Ubisoft account. Ubisoft says you can restore access by linking the same platform account again; using a different one requires contacting Ubisoft Support. Effects on game access, cross-play, progression, and subscriptions depend on the game, platform, and subscription setup.
What changes when you unlink a platform account?
Ubisoft warns that unlinking can have a lasting impact on games because of cross-play and cross-progression, and may affect subscriptions. Its unlinking instructions state that content purchased from a platform store becomes inaccessible through the Ubisoft account when that platform is unlinked.
This refers to access through the Ubisoft account connection; it does not establish that the purchase is erased from the platform account or that every game or save is deleted. Ubisoft does not give one universal outcome for all games and platforms, so check the specific game’s account and progression rules before unlinking.
Can you link the same account again—or switch to a different one?

A linking error can also occur if the platform account is already connected to another Ubisoft account. For Xbox accounts used with Ubisoft games on PC Game Pass, Ubisoft says an Xbox account previously linked to a Ubisoft account can only be linked back to that same Ubisoft account; contact support if you need to connect a different Xbox account.

What happens to game access and progression?
Cross-progression is not universal. Ubisoft describes it as access to game progression on linked platforms where you own the game, and notes that this can require buying the game on more than one platform. Availability varies by game and platform. Its cross-play and cross-progression guidance does not promise that progress will transfer, remain accessible, or be restored in every unlinking scenario.
- Check whether the particular game supports cross-progression on the platforms involved.
- Check which account holds the game purchase and the progression you care about.
- If you plan to relink, use the original platform account; do not assume a different account can inherit its entitlements or progress.
Does unlinking cancel Ubisoft+ or another subscription?
Not necessarily. Ubisoft warns that unlinking may affect subscriptions, but does not say that unlinking automatically cancels every subscription or specify one outcome for all billing arrangements. Subscription cancellation is a separate action: Ubisoft’s Ubisoft+ cancellation guidance discusses possible effects on progression and additional-content access after cancellation. Check the terms and account details for the subscription and the platform that bills you.

How to unlink safely
- Before unlinking, check the affected game’s cross-progression support, the store that sold the content, and how your subscription is billed.
- Sign in to your Ubisoft account and open the Account Information page.
- Under Linked accounts, find the platform account and select Unlink, then follow the on-screen instructions.
- If you want to restore access to platform-store content, relink the same platform account. If you need a different account, contact Ubisoft Support instead.
Some platforms have special steps. Ubisoft says Twitch must be disconnected first; unlinking Epic Games or Wii U requires contacting Ubisoft Support. Follow the current instructions in Ubisoft’s unlinking help page before taking action.

Closing the Ubisoft account is a separate, much broader process. Ubisoft says closure removes access to Ubisoft Connect PC games, Ubisoft games on linked platforms, progression, online services, and personal data. The account enters a 30-day suspension before permanent closure; after closure, Ubisoft says it cannot restore associated data or recover the account. These are account-closure consequences, not the stated effects of unlinking one platform.
