If they do, Roblox notifies you and adds them to your Friends section. Friendship can make it easier to play and communicate, but it does not automatically let someone see your activity or bypass privacy and safety settings.
How a Roblox friend request works
- Open the person’s profile and select Add Friend.
- The request stays pending until the recipient accepts or declines it. You can find pending requests under Add Friends.
- If they accept, Roblox sends you a notification and adds them to your Friends section. Roblox says requests expire after two years, and an account can have up to 1,000 friends. The help page does not state when those limits were introduced. Roblox Support: How to make friends
A request may not go through if either account has reached a friend or request limit, or Roblox detects possible bot activity. Roblox also documents a restriction involving some adult/minor and age-check combinations in Australia; that is a local rule, not a global restriction. Roblox Support: Australian Online Safety Act
If someone declines, Roblox notes that it may be accidental or that they may not recognize the sender. Avoid repeatedly sending requests to the same person.
What friendship lets you do—and what it doesn’t
Friends can be relevant to joining private servers and to some communication features. These options still depend on account settings and eligibility; accepting a request does not guarantee access to every server, chat, or voice feature. Can Roblox friends see when you’re online or what you’re playing?
Not automatically. Roblox has separate controls for who can see your online status and current experience, and the audience options can vary by age and region. Depending on what is available to your account, you may be able to limit visibility to selected groups—such as friends or trusted friends—or choose a more restrictive option. People outside your chosen audience may see you as offline or may not see the experience you are playing. There is also a separate control for sharing recent in-experience activity updates with friends. Roblox Support: Online Status and Visibility
Can they chat with you after you accept?
Being friends alone does not guarantee that messaging, chat, or voice features will be available. Roblox says communication access depends on factors including age group, age check, privacy settings, and region. Its current guidance distinguishes regular friends from trusted friends, and feature access can vary by age group. Applicable safety controls, including chat filtering, remain in effect; adding someone as a friend does not switch them off. Regular friends and trusted friends are different
A regular friend is someone whose friend request you accepted. A trusted friend is a separate, mutual status that can unlock additional features for eligible users. Availability and access depend on age and region, so a regular friend should not be assumed to have trusted-friend privileges. | Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Unfriend | Removes the person from your Friends list. Roblox’s help instructions direct you to their profile and the removal control. Roblox Support: How do I remove a friend or unfollow another user? |
| Block | Ends the friend and follower connections between the accounts and prevents direct contact through messages, friend requests, experience invitations, or party invitations. Roblox says the blocked person will not be notified. Roblox Support: How to block another user |
If you only want to remove someone from your list, unfriend them. If you also want to prevent direct contact, blocking is the stronger option.
