Umbreon ranked as the most popular Eevee evolution in The Pokémon Company’s 2020 worldwide Pokémon of the Year vote. It placed fifth overall with 67,062 votes, just ahead of Sylveon, which placed sixth with 66,029. But a much smaller Pokémon Forums poll in 2024 put Sylveon first. Neither result establishes a universal favorite today: the votes came from different groups and asked different questions.
Which Eeveelution led the largest official vote?
In The Pokémon Company’s 2020 worldwide Pokémon of the Year results, Umbreon was the highest-ranked of Eevee’s evolutions shown in the ranking. It received 67,062 votes and finished fifth overall. Sylveon followed in sixth place with 66,029 votes, a difference of 1,033.
This was a broad vote across Pokémon, not a poll limited to Eevee evolutions. It supports saying Umbreon led the Eeveelutions in that worldwide vote; it does not prove that Umbreon is the most popular Eeveelution among all fans now.
Why does another poll name Sylveon?
A November 2024 poll on the official Pokémon Forums asked members which Eeveelution was their favorite. Of its 24 votes, Sylveon received five (20%), while Jolteon and Leafeon tied with four each (16%).

That poll asked the more direct favorite-evolution question, but its small forum sample is only a community snapshot. It cannot be treated as representative of Pokémon fans worldwide or compared with the 2020 vote as if both measured the same group.
What do the results actually tell us?
| Measure | Top Eeveelution | Result | What it represents |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Pokémon Company’s 2020 worldwide Pokémon of the Year vote | Umbreon | 67,062 votes; fifth overall | A broad Pokémon vote, not an Eeveelution-only poll |
| Pokémon Forums poll, November 2024 | Sylveon | 5 of 24 votes (20%) | A small forum poll asking members for their favorite Eeveelution |
Because the polls differ in date, reach, and question design, their results should not be combined into a single ranking. The most precise short answer is: Umbreon led the large worldwide vote located; Sylveon led the small official-forum poll.

Which Pokémon count as Eeveelutions?
The official Pokédex lists eight evolutions of Eevee: Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon. The official Eevee Pokédex entry provides the roster.
There is no sales, search, or other popularity statistic in these results that settles which one is the overall favorite. Merchandise announcements likewise show that collectibles exist, not which evolution sells best or is most popular.
