Scarlet Forest Area 8 is also named by guides. Several guides tie the best chance to the Plenty condition, but none present it as a guaranteed spawn. When you find one, catch it with the Capture Net rather than using the normal interact action.
Where to look
Three locations come up consistently across guide coverage. Treat them as places where players have reported Giant Vigorwasps, not as a complete list of spawn points.
Windward Plains: Area 13 and Area 10
PC Gamer points to the Area 13 oasis in the Windward Plains as the spot to start, and lists Area 10 as a second option during the season of Plenty. Game8 also lists Areas 10 and 13 and describes Plenty as the best condition for finding the creature. Area 13 is the stronger first stop because the oasis gives you a fixed landmark to search around.
Scarlet Forest: Area 8
Game8 lists Area 8 in the Scarlet Forest, and Shacknews names the same area during Plenty. Scarlet Forest is the alternate route if you are already working in that region or the Windward Plains spots are not producing a wasp.

Telling a Giant Vigorwasp from a regular one
Map markers for Giant Vigorwasps look much like those for regular Vigorwasps, so the marker alone is not enough. Check the insect itself when you get close. PC Gamer describes the Giant version as larger, with a more prominent green sack.
How to capture one
Capturing is the step that matters most. Using the normal interact action on the wasp does not net it. According to PC Gamer and Shacknews, interacting releases the wasp’s healing effect instead of capturing it, so use the net.
- Open the item wheel and equip the Capture Net.
- Approach the Giant Vigorwasp and aim at it.
- Fire the net once the wasp is within range.
The Palico quest: A Gutsy Move
A Gutsy Move asks you to capture a Giant Vigorwasp for your Palico. Guides link finishing this quest to unlocking the Vigorwasp Revival support move. Guides describe the prerequisites differently, so check the quest list or your in-game journal before you assume a specific order of steps. The quest is the most common reason players go looking for these wasps, and a player discussion asking where to find them after finishing the quest reflects that link.
Alternative route: summon one with a Palico move
Game8 reports a second method. The upgraded Attract Vigorwasps Palico move can summon a Giant Vigorwasp once your Palico reaches level 23. If you use this route, capture the summoned wasp with the Capture Net as you would in the field. This detail comes from Game8 alone, so confirm the level requirement and the move’s current behavior on your Palico Info screen before you plan around it.

Where the sources disagree
Guides do not agree on how many regions or areas host Giant Vigorwasps, and they differ on spawn totals. The areas above are the ones multiple guides name, so they are the safest places to begin. No official Capcom location table has been found to settle the differences, so do not expect one exhaustive answer. If you do not find a wasp in the listed areas during Plenty, try the other areas and check again at a different time.
- Start with Windward Plains Area 13 near the oasis.
- Try Windward Plains Area 10 next.
- Use Scarlet Forest Area 8 if the Windward Plains areas do not produce a wasp.
- Always capture with the net, never with the interact action.
The Palico quest and the Attract Vigorwasps move are both reported as ways to get a Giant Vigorwasp, but the field locations above remain the most direct route.
