Black Myth: Wukong’s original PC and PS5 launch happened simultaneously worldwide at 10:00 a.m. Beijing Time (UTC+8) on August 20, 2024—02:00 UTC. Depending on where you live, that instant fell on August 19 or August 20 locally. The Xbox Series X|S version arrived separately, on August 20, 2025. Both launch dates have passed.
Original PC and PS5 unlock time
The game’s official Steam announcement set the global release for August 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Beijing Time (UTC+8), on PS5, Steam, Epic Games Store, and WeGame. That corresponds to 02:00 UTC on August 20. The official Steam announcement gives one worldwide instant, rather than separate scheduled launches for each time zone.
To work out the local time, convert 02:00 UTC on August 20, 2024, using your location’s UTC offset in effect on that date. In many places in the Americas, the local time was still August 19. Daylight-saving time matters: use the offset that applied in August 2024, not necessarily your region’s current offset.
Examples of how to convert it
- If your location was UTC−7 on that date, the unlock was 7:00 p.m. on August 19.
- If it was UTC−4, the unlock was 10:00 p.m. on August 19.
- If it was UTC+1, the unlock was 3:00 a.m. on August 20.
These are conversions of the official 02:00 UTC instant; your location’s actual time-zone rules determine which offset applies. “US time” is not one time: US time zones differ, and the August daylight-saving offset varies by zone.

Xbox Series X|S had a later launch
Xbox owners did not use the 2024 PC and PS5 launch time. Black Myth: Wukong released on Xbox Series X|S on August 20, 2025, according to Xbox Wire and the US Xbox Store listing. The cited announcements establish the date, but not a universal local unlock hour for every Xbox region.
Which platforms and editions were announced?
The original August 2024 launch covered PS5 and three PC storefronts: Steam, Epic Games Store, and WeGame. The Steam announcement described the Digital Standard Edition as including the full game. Its Digital Deluxe Edition added the Bronzecloud Staff, Folk Opera Mask, Folk Opera Almsgiving Armor, Folk Opera Leather Bracers and Buskins, Wind Chimes curio, and a selected digital soundtrack. The announcement also mentioned physical Deluxe and Collector’s Editions; current stock or availability is not established here.

How to check whether you can play now
The scheduled dates explain the launches, but they do not confirm access for a particular account. Store availability, entitlement, downloads, and displayed countdowns can vary by platform and region. Check the game’s page in the storefront for the account and region you use; a local countdown or current access status is more relevant to your installation than the historical global timestamp.
