The right route depends on which spell you want, which world or arc it belongs to, and whether your wizard can enter the relevant encounter. For most world-associated spells, start with the bosses in that spell’s world and the four worlds after it. Higher-level wizards can use Scales of Knowledge in selected Arc 1 and Arc 2 boss encounters, lore spellements have their own Gold Skeleton Key bosses, and Boss Rematches offer a separate, craftable route. Official KingsIsle notes do not publish drop rates or time-per-run yields for any of these, so no boss can be verified as the fastest option.
Identify the spell before choosing a boss
Spellements are not drawn from one shared pool. Each spell is tied to a particular world, arc, lore pack, or event, and the source that works for one spell may never drop another. Players searching for the “best place to get Spellments” are usually asking about a specific spell, so the first step is to write down its exact name and where it came from.
The spelling “Spellments” appears often in player forums, but KingsIsle’s official term is “spellement.” Use the official term when searching patch notes or the in-game Spellements guide.

Because none of these routes has a published yield, the table compares setup and eligibility rather than efficiency. Treat any claim that one route is faster as anecdotal unless it is tied to a measured count.

World-associated spells
For spells tied to a world, begin at that world. KingsIsle’s 2025 notes say the Polaris, Mirage, and Empyrea spellements follow the usual pattern of dropping from various bosses in the associated world or the four worlds after it. That is a search range. It does not mean every boss in that range drops the target spell, so confirm the eligible bosses against a current spell-specific guide before committing many runs.
Higher-level wizards and Arc 1 and Arc 2 spellements
Scales of Knowledge lets an over-leveled wizard farm earlier arcs. When you interact with the object at a selected boss encounter, your wizard’s level and stats are temporarily lowered to match the encounter. KingsIsle’s Selenopolis update notes state the principle directly:

“Both Arc 1 and Arc 2 spellements can be obtained from select boss encounters by higher level wizards using the new Scales of Knowledge.”
The word “select” is the key limit. Scales of Knowledge is not described as available at every boss, so check the encounter itself for the object before planning a route around it.

Lore spellements and Gold Skeleton Key bosses
Lore spellements come from paired bosses rather than from the world pool. The Selenopolis notes list two pairings:
- Takanobu the Masterless, in the Cave of Solitude in MooShu, pairs with Ninja’s Spellemental Pack.
- Lambent Fire, in Crystal Caves in Avalon, pairs with Knight’s Spellemental Pack.
Do not assume a key boss drops every lore spellement. The notes enumerate the spell pool for each pack, so match your target spell against that list first.

Boss Rematches
Boss Rematches are craftable, one-time-use housing items for fights against world final bosses, sometimes joined by other creatures. The official update describes two modes:
- Standard: an over-leveled character fights with current stats.
- Challenge: the character is scaled to the boss’s level.
Rematches make sense when your target source is a world boss and you have the reagents for the crafting cost. The first craft is more expensive than later ones, so budget reagents before you start.

Paid event packs
The Event Spellement Pack in the Crown Shop is an optional, randomized purchase. According to its listed page, it awards spellements from its pool, reserves three of its seven slots for your school, and upgrades spells you have already learned. It does not teach the spells it awards. Because the pack is randomized and sources give no comparative odds, it should not be treated as the best-value route. Availability of event packs can change, so check the Crown Shop directly.
Community leads that still need checking
A 2022 player discussion and a 2026 creator video mention other activities that players associate with spellements: Deckathalon, events, questing, Cantrip or Silver Chests, pet retriever talents, Beastmoon, and Portal of Peril. Treat these as leads to verify in your current in-game menus and spell-specific guides. Neither source gives verified drop rates for them.
A practical farming process
- Write down the exact spellement name and note whether it belongs to a world, Arc 1 or Arc 2, a lore pack, or an event pack.
- For a world spell, confirm your wizard can reach that world and the four worlds after it, then pick eligible bosses from a current spell-specific guide.
- For an Arc 1 or Arc 2 spell, if your wizard is above the arc’s level, look for a Scales of Knowledge object at the selected encounter before you enter.
- For a lore spell, find the paired Gold Skeleton Key boss and check that the spell appears in the pack’s listed pool.
- Before a long session, record attempts, spellements received, and time spent for each route. This gives you your own measured yield, which the official sources do not provide.
What the evidence does not settle
The official notes do not give drop rates, per-run quantities, or farming times for any route, and the spellement guide directory describes its linked guides as community-created rather than KingsIsle-authored. Current boss tables and event schedules can change with updates, so the 2025 notes cited here should be checked against the current patch archive.
- Verify each route’s eligibility before a long session.
- Treat community rankings as opinions unless they include counted results.
- Expect your own log to be the most reliable guide to a specific spell’s yield.
The route that fits best is the one your wizard can reach and whose eligible sources include the spell you want.
