Find the Cogfly in the High Halls, inside the Citadel. The route uses Clawline to activate mechanisms that shift a hidden spike passage; at the workbench room beyond it, craft the tool with one Craftmetal.
What you need before heading there
- Clawline: You need it to activate mechanisms along the hidden spike route.
- One Craftmetal: The workbench in the destination room uses one unit to craft Cogfly, according to the Nintendo Life tool guide and the Hollow Knight Wiki.
How to reach the Cogfly workbench
- Enter the High Halls in the Citadel. The area guide describes an approach from the Choral Chambers using Clawline; see Silksong Map’s High Halls guide.
- Look for the hidden route through spikes. Use Clawline on the mechanisms you encounter to move the spikes and open the way forward.
- Continue through the passage until you reach a room with a workbench. The sources do not establish a reliable room name or coordinate.
- At the workbench, spend one Craftmetal to make Cogfly.
What Cogfly does
Cogfly is a Red Tool that follows Hornet and attacks nearby enemies on its own, according to the Hollow Knight Wiki. The wiki says each Cogfly breaks after five hits and follows Hornet between rooms, but not during fast travel.
Guides disagree about how many Cogflies can be active at once: Nintendo Life reports three, while the community-maintained Hollow Knight Wiki says up to four. The available sources do not establish a consistent cap for the current game version, so this guide does not give a definitive number.
