The two people most often meant by “the owners of Roblox” are its co-founders, David Baszucki and Erik Cassel. Roblox was founded in 2004. But they are not necessarily the company’s two current owners: Roblox Corporation is publicly traded and owned by its stockholders. Its 2026 proxy statement reports that Baszucki held 58.8% of total voting power as of February 13, 2026—a measure of control, not the same thing as owning that percentage of the company.
Who founded Roblox?
Roblox names David Baszucki and Erik Cassel as its founders and gives 2004 as the year the company was founded. Roblox Support’s company information confirms both names. Baszucki also recalled the partnership in a 2022 letter: “When Erik Cassel and I started Roblox, we envisioned a new category of human co-experience where people could play, learn, and work together in digital worlds.”
Baszucki’s letter was published on January 25, 2022. Cassel’s status as a co-founder is a historical fact; it does not establish that he currently owns Roblox shares.
Who owns Roblox today?
Roblox Corporation is a public company, so its shares are held by stockholders rather than by two founders alone. The company’s 2025 Form 10-K identifies Roblox Corporation as the reporting company. A proxy statement gives a dated view of certain beneficial ownership and voting power; it is not a live record of every shareholder or a permanent ownership breakdown.

Roblox identifies Baszucki as its Founder and Chief Executive Officer on its leadership page. His leadership role and founder status are distinct from the question of how many shares he owns.
What the 2026 proxy says about Baszucki’s ownership and control
Roblox’s 2026 proxy statement bases its ownership figures on shares outstanding as of February 13, 2026. Under the proxy’s beneficial-ownership reporting method, Baszucki was reported as beneficially owning 47,070,464 Class B shares—100.0% of the outstanding Class B common stock—and holding 58.8% of total voting power. These figures describe reported beneficial ownership and voting power; they should not be read as saying that he owns 58.8% of Roblox’s total economic value.

The distinction matters because Roblox has two classes of common stock. The proxy says each Class A share carries one vote, while each Class B share carries 20 votes. The greater voting weight of Class B shares means voting control does not map directly to a person’s percentage of all shares or economic ownership.

The same proxy reported that, as of February 13, 2026, FMR LLC held 7.5% of Class A shares and 3.1% of total voting power; BlackRock, Inc. held 5.4% of Class A shares and 2.2% of total voting power. The different percentages reflect, among other things, the distinction between a share class and total voting power. These are dated proxy disclosures, not current real-time figures.

For that reason, the clearest answer depends on what “owners” means: Baszucki and Cassel are the two founders; Roblox Corporation’s current owners are its stockholders; and Baszucki had the voting-power position stated in the proxy’s February 13, 2026 snapshot.
