There is no verified, universal list of the best bronze cards in FIFA 23. The sources available on this topic, including EA SPORTS’ own FUT update notes from 2022, do not establish a bronze shortlist that holds up across positions, squads and playstyles. A bronze card is best for a stated job: a fast player for counterattacks, a position-specific defender or midfielder, or a low-cost filler for a full bronze squad. This guide shows how to choose for that job and which rules decide whether a card actually performs in your team.
Why one ranking of bronze cards does not work
A single order of bronze cards would blend three different questions: how fast a player is, how well his attributes suit the position he is placed in, and how many chemistry links he creates in your squad. A card can rank highly on one and poorly on another. A fast striker placed at centre-back, for example, may add little, and a slower player with strong links can outperform him in a balanced side. Any list should therefore name its purpose before it names players.

Four rules that decide whether a bronze card fits
1. Chemistry links: nationality, league and club
EA SPORTS’ FIFA 23 FUT chemistry update, published in August 2022, says players can earn up to three chemistry points from shared nationality or region, league and club. It also removed positional links. In EA’s words: “Positional links have been completely removed, and your Players can now link regardless of their position on the pitch.” In practice, a bronze card does not need to sit in a matching position to link with teammates, so you can choose it on attributes and build links through its nation, league or club.
2. Preferred and alternative positions
EA’s FUT Deep Dive explains that base Bronze, Silver and Gold items have one preferred position and up to three alternative positions. Check those positions on the exact card before you place it. EA also states that players placed out of position do not gain chemistry and play at their FUT item attributes, so a bronze card in an unlisted slot gives you neither links nor a role-specific boost.

3. Attributes that matter for the role
Overall rating is a starting point, not a decision. Compare the attributes that the role uses: pace and acceleration for wide and counterattacking roles, defensive attributes for centre-backs and full-backs, and passing and vision for midfield. Height or body type should only count when you have verified it for that exact item; do not assume it carries over from another version.
4. Base items versus special items
Base bronze items and special bronze items are not interchangeable in a comparison. Keep them in separate shortlists, and note which type you are recommending, so a reader does not assume a special version behaves like the base card.

Choosing a bronze card by purpose

What the fastest-bronze lists tell you
Lists of fast FUT players are useful for one axis. A Games-Guides.com guide titled “FIFA 23: Fastest Players in FUT” is a pace comparison, not an overall ranking, and it does not establish which bronze cards are best for every role. Use such a list to narrow options for a speed-focused plan, then check positions, attributes and links on the candidates before you commit.

How to build your own bronze shortlist
- Write down the purpose: counterattacking, one position, a full bronze squad, or a low-cost filler.
- Open the FUTBIN FIFA 23 player database at https://www.futbin.com/23/players and narrow the list to Bronze quality. Use it to read each item’s rating and attributes rather than relying on memory.
- Open each candidate and record its preferred position and alternative positions.
- List the nationality or region, league and club links your current squad can make with each candidate.
- Compare pace and the role attributes side by side, and remove any card that is fast but used in a role that does not need pace.
- Keep three to five cards per role, and label the shortlist with its purpose and the date you checked it.
Limits of this guide
- The chemistry rules and position rules come from EA SPORTS material published in 2022, and they describe FIFA 23 only.
- EA SPORTS FC 24 succeeded FIFA 23 in 2023, so FIFA 23 ratings and item versions should be checked against the database you use rather than assumed.
