Eve’s body model in Stellar Blade was Korean model Shin Jae-eun. Director Hyung-Tae Kim said Shift Up scanned her body as a reference for Eve; Kim also said Eve’s face was created in-house, not modeled on Shin Jae-eun.
Who was Eve’s body model?
In a February 8, 2024 interview with Push Square, director Hyung-Tae Kim confirmed that the team based Eve’s body on Shin Jae-eun. Kim said, “We thought that her body shape would be a good reference for the character that we were pursuing,” and confirmed that the studio scanned her body for the game.
Was Shin Jae-eun also Eve’s face model?
No. Kim said Eve’s face was “created originally in-house” and specified that “it’s just the body of the model that we scanned for the game.” The answer is therefore specific: Shin Jae-eun was the body reference, while the face was an original creation by the development team.
Why did Shift Up choose her?
Kim described the choice as the team’s aesthetic judgment, not an objective standard. He said they wanted to create what they considered “the most attractive looking body for the user,” and chose Shin Jae-eun because her body shape suited the character they were pursuing. That explains the studio’s stated design rationale; it does not mean Eve is an unchanged copy of the model.

What does body scanning mean for Eve’s design?
Kim’s account establishes that Shin Jae-eun’s body was scanned as a reference. It does not establish a measured degree of likeness, specific body proportions, or that her face was scanned. No such measurements or likeness claims were given in the cited interviews.
Kim also described Stellar Blade’s wider use of real-world scanning. In an April 24, 2024 Game Informer interview, he said some real clothes were scanned and modified, and that a model wore certain outfits so the studio could capture details such as material pressure, folds, and skin. This is separate costume-production context: it does not show that Shin Jae-eun wore or modeled every costume.

How does Eve fit the game’s visual setting?
In an April 8, 2024 PlayStation.Blog interview, Kim described Eve as an Airborne Squad member sent from an outer-space colony to Earth. He said her athleticism and fluidity were intended to contrast with the barren, dry, ruined environment. That broader design explanation complements the body-reference account without changing who was scanned or implying that Eve’s face came from the model.
