The original Horse Pack Armor comes with the Standard Edition at no extra cost. The newer horse armor tied to quests is paid content, available only in the Deluxe Edition or through the Digital Deluxe Upgrade for owners of the digital base game.
What each edition includes
Bethesda sells Oblivion Remastered in three configurations. The differences come down to which add-ons and quest content you get, not whether the original horse armor is included.
| Option | What it includes | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | Digital base game, the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine story expansions, and the original add-ons Bethesda lists, including Horse Pack Armor | Anyone buying the game for the first time who does not need the new themed quests |
| Deluxe Edition | Everything in Standard, plus the new quests for the unique Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon armor, weapons, and horse armor sets, plus a digital artbook and soundtrack app | Buyers who want the new themed sets and the extras |
| Digital Deluxe Upgrade | The new quests and sets, plus the artbook and soundtrack app | Existing owners of the digital base game. The base game is required and sold separately. |
Bethesda’s support wording for the upgrade is: “Base game is required for the Digital Deluxe Upgrade. Sold separately.”
Two different kinds of horse armor
The confusion in the title comes from the phrase “horse armor” covering two separate things.

- You prefer a disc on Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5: the physical Deluxe Edition includes a code for the digital Deluxe-only items, and it is sold while supplies last.
