You Can Revive Teammates in Elden Ring Nightreign by Attacking Them

In Elden Ring Nightreign multiplayer, you revive a downed teammate by repeatedly attacking them. Here is how to do it, how ranged attacks are affected by distance, and what to check when a revive fails.

Yes. In ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN multiplayer, a teammate who has been knocked down can be revived by other members of your party attacking them. The official starter guide describes repeated attacks as the revive method. It does not give a fixed number of hits, and the sources checked for this article do not establish one, so treat the process as “keep attacking until they recover” rather than a countable threshold.

How to revive a downed teammate

This works only in a co-op session with teammates. In a solo run there is no one to perform the revive.

  1. Locate the downed player. A teammate in the near-death state can still be saved, which is the state the patch notes refer to when they discuss players who could or could not be rescued.
  2. Move into melee or attack range of the downed ally.
  3. Attack them repeatedly. The official starter guide describes repeated attacks as the way to revive them, so a single hit is not the expected method.
  4. Keep pressure on until the downed player recovers or is lost. Stop before the window closes if other enemies are threatening you; a revive that is interrupted by your own death gains nothing.

Why distance and weapon type matter

Attacks subject to damage drop-off are reduced by distance when they deplete a downed ally’s near-death gauge. Ranged weapons are the main case. Standing back and shooting a downed teammate may therefore contribute less to the revive than closing in and using a melee attack. The official patch note for Version 1.03.2, published by Bandai Namco Europe on 15 January 2026, states this rule but does not give a numerical distance or hit count, so the exact falloff cannot be measured from the published information.

When a revive seems to fail

If the mechanic appears broken, check these points in order before assuming a bug:

  • Confirm the game is up to date. Revive-related fixes arrived in patches, and a session with an older version may not behave as described.
  • Check whether the ally is past saving. The patch notes acknowledge cases where near-death players could not be saved, so a failed revive is not always a bug.
  • Review the Version 1.02 fixes. Bandai Namco’s Version 1.02 notes describe a fix for saving players after a grab attack, and a separate fix for Wending Grace revivals during Night boss and Nightlord battles. If you are seeing either situation on an older build, updating is the first step.
  • Adjust your range. If you are attacking from a distance with a ranged weapon, move closer before concluding the revive is not working.

What is and is not established

The sources checked for this article confirm three things: the revive is performed by attacking the downed teammate, damage drop-off affects how much that attack counts when the attack is at range, and earlier patches fixed specific revive-related problems. They do not confirm a required hit count, a success rate, or the exact duration of the revive window.

The most recent mechanic-specific note checked is Version 1.03.2 from January 2026. The game has received later updates, so check the official patch notes before relying on exact behavior, particularly if a newer version has changed how revives work.
