Konami has announced extended art cards for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, a card treatment in which the artwork runs top-to-bottom and side-to-side across the card. The first set, Rarity Collection 5, was announced on April 9, 2026. Three more official product announcements followed through September 2026: Battles of Legend: Glorious Gallery, Chaos Origins, and Magnificent Monsters. The number of extended art cards, and the rarities they come in, differ from set to set.
What makes a card extended art
Konami separates extended art from the variant art it already printed in other products. According to its April 9, 2026 Rarity Collection 5 announcement, most variant art cards use catch phrases, new backgrounds, highlights, added elements, or zoomed-in crops of the original illustration. An extended art card is different because its illustration fills the card in both directions, from top to bottom and from side to side. The artwork is not a re-framed version of the standard image; it is a larger picture that takes up the whole card face.
Set-by-set breakdown
The table below lists each announced set with the figures Konami gave. Where Konami did not state a value, the cell says so rather than estimating it.
| Set | Announced | Extended art cards | Rarities stated | Other details from the announcement |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rarity Collection 5 | April 9, 2026 | 10, in a fifth-card variant-art pool that also holds 58 other variant-art cards | Not stated in Konami’s announcement | Set of approximately 80 cards; packs contain five cards |
| Battles of Legend: Glorious Gallery | June 4, 2026 | 10 more | Ultra Rare and Starlight Rare | Also includes 10 chibi variant-art cards and 40 new cards |
| Chaos Origins | July 2, 2026 | 5 frame-breaking extended art cards | Ultra Rare and Starlight Rare | Starlight Rares receive a visual update (see below) |
| Magnificent Monsters | September 4, 2026 | Extended art versions of 18 reimagined cards | Ultra Rare and Starlight Rare | Official product page lists a September 3, 2026 release date; boxes contain three packs; the set also has other new and variant-art cards |
Two points matter when reading that table. First, the counts are product composition figures: they tell you how many extended art cards a set contains, not how often one turns up in a pack. Second, a set’s new cards are not all extended art. Magnificent Monsters, for example, contains other new and variant-art cards alongside its 18 extended art versions.

Rarity Collection 5: how the cards are distributed
Rarity Collection 5 is the set where the feature began, and it is also the one where the pack structure matters most. According to Konami’s April 9, 2026 announcement, the set’s five-card packs work like this:
- The first four cards are drawn from the main card pool.
- The fifth card is drawn from a separate pool of variant-art cards.
- The ten extended art cards sit inside that fifth-card pool, alongside 58 other variant-art cards.
Konami named four of the extended art cards in the announcement: Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, Kurikara Divincarnate, Super Polymerization, and Dominus Purge. Konami’s own wording for the set reads: “Ten popular fan favourites return with extended art going top-to-bottom and side-to-side on the card including cards like Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, Kurikara Divincarnate, Super Polymerization, and Dominus Purge.”

Because the extended art cards share the fifth slot with 58 other variant-art cards, a pack is not guaranteed to contain one. Konami has not published per-pack pull rates for this set or any of the others.
Follow-up sets
Konami’s June 4, 2026 announcement for Battles of Legend: Glorious Gallery described the set as a follow-on to the first release: “Following the success of Rarity Collection 5’s extended art cards, Battles of Legend: Glorious Gallery adds 10 more including Dragon Master Magia, Red Supernova Dragon, and Dominus Impulse.” That set is the first of the four where Konami named rarities for the extended art cards, with Ultra Rare and Starlight Rare versions.

Chaos Origins brings a smaller group of five frame-breaking extended art cards, also available as Ultra Rares and Starlight Rares. Konami’s July 2, 2026 announcement for that set also changed the Starlight Rare treatment itself. Starlight Rares receive richer colors and a rainbow foil outer border in place of the grey border used before. The update is described for Starlight Rares in this set; the announcement does not say whether earlier Starlight Rares were changed.
Magnificent Monsters, announced September 4, 2026, adds extended art versions of 18 reimagined cards in Ultra Rare and Starlight Rare. Its official product page lists a September 3, 2026 release date, one day before the announcement date, so readers should confirm the on-sale date with their local retailer.

Buying extended art cards: what to check
Extended art cards are sold in two ways, and the right choice depends on what you want.
- Sealed booster products. These are randomized. You get the set’s extended art cards only if they are pulled, and no official source promises one in every pack. Choose these if you want the experience of opening packs and accept that you may not get a specific card.
- Single cards. If you are trying to get one named card, such as Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon from Rarity Collection 5, buying a single from a card retailer or marketplace is usually more direct than opening packs. Check the seller’s condition grading and listing details before buying.
Before purchasing any product, confirm four details against the listing:

Best Value
- OCG
- Box: 15 packs per box
- The exact set name, since the same card name can appear in several products with different art and rarity.
- The rarity, which is Ultra Rare or Starlight Rare for the sets after Rarity Collection 5, and which Rarity Collection 5 does not state in Konami’s announcement.
- The language and region. The announcements reviewed here are Konami Digital Entertainment, B.V. materials, which are European releases; check local release dates and language versions before ordering.
- Current availability. Stock and pricing change quickly, and the announcements do not establish either.
What the official announcements do not establish
The announcements confirm which cards carry extended art, how many there are in each set, and which rarities Konami listed. They do not establish current stock, retail prices, secondary-market values, or the chance of pulling any specific extended art card from a pack. Those points should be checked directly with a retailer or the official Konami and Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG channels before you make a decision.
This is best read as an ongoing product feature rather than a single announcement. The first set was followed by three further official product announcements in 2026, and the count of extended art cards has changed from set to set.
