Master Duel is the better fit if you want a digital card game modeled on the broader Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG experience, with a large card pool, Solo Mode and online competition. Duel Links centers on anime characters, themed worlds and character progression, and it offers both Speed Duel and the distinct Rush Duel format. Neither is simply a smaller or larger version of the other: they emphasize different ways to play.
How do the games differ?
| What you want to compare | Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel | Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links |
|---|---|---|
| Core emphasis | Digital play comparable to the broader Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG ruleset, with online duels and events. Konami calls it the definitive edition of the competitive card game. Konami product page; Master Duel official site | Character-led play in Duel World, with familiar characters, missions, shops, deck building and online PvP. Duel Links introduction |
| Formats | Konami’s cited pages describe a TCG-comparable ruleset; they do not establish that every card, banlist or format matches physical TCG play exactly. Konami European product page | Includes Speed Duel and Rush Duel. Rush Duel has its own cards and rules, including multiple monster summons in a turn and a hand refill to at least five cards at the start of each turn. Konami Rush Duel announcement |
| Solo and multiplayer | Konami lists Solo Mode, online duels and tournaments. Konami product page | Konami’s introduction lists ranked, casual and friend duels, as well as replay watching. Duel Links introduction |
| Card pool | Konami’s U.S. product page states that the game has more than 10,000 cards; that is a changing product-page claim, not an independently audited total. Konami product page | The cited Duel Links pages do not state a comparable total. |
| Platforms listed by cited official pages | PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Steam, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android. Konami also says the game supports cross-platform play and data linking across platforms. Konami product page; Master Duel official site | Android, iOS and Steam are listed on the cited support page. Which game is closer to the physical Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG?
Master Duel is the closer fit if you want a digital experience positioned around the broader TCG-style competitive game. Konami describes its ruleset as comparable to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG and presents the game as an authentic digital card game. That does not mean every card, banlist or format is identical to tabletop TCG play; the cited descriptions establish the broad ruleset reference, not complete parity. Konami European product page
Duel Links has a different structure. Its anime characters and themed worlds are part of the experience, and players can progress through missions as well as build decks and play PvP. It includes Speed Duel and Rush Duel, but Rush is a distinct game format with its own cards and rules rather than simply another name for the TCG experience. Konami Rush Duel announcement
What does each game offer beyond PvP?
Master Duel: Solo Mode, events and tournaments
Konami lists Solo Mode alongside online duels, events and tournaments. That makes Master Duel a reasonable choice if you want a broader card-game offering that includes both solo play and competitive online options. Konami product page
