Nintendo has reported sales for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom at several points since launch. The most recent specific total in its published results is 4.09 million units, for the fiscal year that ended March 31, 2025. That figure is a period-end count, not a current lifetime total, and Nintendo has not published a newer number for this game in the sources available for this article. Nintendo also described the game’s opening period as a “good start,” not a “strong start” as is often repeated.
The latest official figure and its reporting period
Nintendo’s annual results for the year ended March 31, 2025 list Echoes of Wisdom at 4.09 million units. Because Nintendo reports sales by fiscal period, that number answers the question “how many units had been reported by the end of March 2025?” It does not answer “how many have been sold today.”

Every reported total, with its period
Nintendo has published three cumulative figures for the game. Each covers a different window, so they should not be read as a growth series measured on one basis.
| Reporting period | Units reported | Source |
|---|---|---|
| First half of FY2025, ended September 30, 2024 (game released September 26, 2024, four days earlier) | 2.58 million | Nintendo Co., Ltd. first-half FY2025 results, November 5, 2024 |
| Nine months, ended December 31, 2024 | 3.91 million | Nintendo Co., Ltd. nine-month FY2025 results, 2025 |
| Full fiscal year, ended March 31, 2025 | 4.09 million | Nintendo Co., Ltd. FY2025 annual results, 2025 |
The gap between the first and second figures covers roughly three months of reporting, and the gap to the third covers roughly three more. Those intervals are simple arithmetic from the period ends, not separate disclosures, and Nintendo does not break down these totals by month or region in these releases.

Why Nintendo wrote “good start,” not “strong start”
The November 5, 2024 results said the game “got off to a good start posting sales of 2.58 million units.” That sentence is the only official characterization of its launch performance in the available material. Nintendo did not call it a record, a best-seller, or the strongest launch in the series, so articles describing the start as “strong” are paraphrasing beyond what the company said.
The 2.58 million figure also covers only the days between release and the end of the quarter. It is a useful early signal, but it is not evidence of how the game performed over its first year.

- Save the Kingdom of Hyrule - this time as Princess Zelda - in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom for Nintendo Switch
- In this new installment of The Legend of Zelda range, it's up to Zelda and her wisdom to save the kingdom of Hyrule. Its inhabitants disappear into strange cracks - and with them a very specific sword fighter.
- Step into the role of Princess Zelda and save Hyrule from a mysterious force. Use their wisdom and tri rod to solve puzzles and defeat enemies.
- Creativity is the key to success: discover the power of Tri-Stab and create imitations of objects and creatures, so-called echoes. Use these echoes to overcome obstacles and take over in battle.
- Beautifully designed world full of secrets and captivating story full of adventures.
What “units” means in Nintendo’s reporting
Nintendo’s sales-unit definition has two parts that matter for interpreting any of these numbers:
- Software sales include both packaged (physical) and downloadable versions of a title.
- Actual sales also include units bundled with hardware or other products.
So none of the 2.58, 3.91, or 4.09 million figures should be described as physical-copy sales. Nintendo does not separate the packaged and digital totals for this game in these releases, so no physical-only share can be calculated from them.
What Nintendo’s June 2026 top-title page does and does not show
Nintendo maintains a page listing its top-selling Nintendo Switch titles. The version available for this article displays worldwide consolidated life-to-date figures as of June 30, 2026. It lists ten titles, and Echoes of Wisdom is not among them.
That absence should not be read as a newer sales figure or as evidence that sales have stopped. The list is a ranking of top titles, and the game falls outside it. The page confirms the date and scope of Nintendo’s ranking; it does not provide an updated total for this game.
Rank #4
- Save the kingdom of Hyrule, this time with the wisdom of Princess Zelda! The people of Hyrule are being swallowed by strange crevices that have arisen, with a certain swordsman among the missing. Now it's up to Princess Zelda to save her kingdom in a new story from The Legend of Zelda !
- Team up with Tri and use the power of Tri's scepter to create "echoes", which are copies of objects found in the environment. Then recreate these echoes whenever you want to solve puzzles and defeat enemies.
- Create echoes like blocks of water to reach new heights, bridge old beds, throw rocks at enemies, or find your own creative combination of echoes to do everything your own way. You can even create monster echoes to fight alongside you in combat!
Comparing figures without mixing periods
If you compare this game with another title, line up the reporting periods first. A nine-month total cannot be ranked against a full-year total, and neither can be set against retail-only estimates from third parties, which use different geographies, channels, and methods. Nintendo’s figures are company-reported units across its own reporting periods, and they are the only official basis for these numbers.
Finding the game
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is listed by Nintendo as a Nintendo Switch release, and a physical edition is sold for that platform. Because Nintendo’s totals combine packaged and downloadable sales, buying a physical copy does not mean you are contributing to a specific figure, and this article has not tested either edition. Check current availability and pricing with the retailer before purchase.
