What determines PvP rank in WoW: Forever?
Blizzard describes two related measures: Honor and Rank Points. Honor is a currency earned through PvP, while Rank Points move a character through the rank progression. Rank Points come from PvP activities such as battlegrounds and relevant quests; holiday-week battlegrounds may provide an additional boost. The visible goals follow the familiar original WoW rank ladder, leading to High Warlord for the Horde or Grand Marshal for the Alliance. Rank progression also has item rewards, including tabards, a PvP trinket, cloaks, a necklace, combat potions, a battle standard, epic armor upgrade tokens, mounts, and epic weapons. How much does skill matter?
The official progression announcement does not name a rating cutoff or say that a title requires a particular competitive ladder placement. That points away from a documented rating-gated path, but it does not mean skill is irrelevant in practice: performance can affect how effectively someone completes PvP activities. The evidence does not establish a skill threshold for any title.

A secondary guide reports that Forever will have no rated PvP and that the rank system is being redesigned as a seasonal Honor track aligned with raid tiers. Those details come from a summary of a live developer Q&A, not a complete written Blizzard ruleset. The guide also says Blizzard has not published the track’s levels, rewards, or season length in writing, so treat the no-rated and seasonal-reset details as reported rather than settled specifics. Why time and consistent participation matter
Rank Points are capped weekly, so progression is paced rather than purely determined by how much PvP a player can complete in one week. Blizzard also describes a weekly journey for each season: completing its tasks grants Honor and Rank Points, and three tasks each season additionally grant a Legacy Point. The Legacy System tracks PvP milestones separately from rank rewards. Its PvP category includes 12 challenges: rank milestones at ranks 3, 7, 10, 13, and 14; Exalted standing with each of the four Battleground reputations; and Field of Honor weekly tasks for weeks 4, 7, and 10. Blizzard’s published progression description does not provide rank-point thresholds, the weekly cap value, or an hours-or-matches estimate for reaching a title. Without those figures, a precise grind estimate would be guesswork. The secondary account of seasonal progression also does not establish a season’s duration or confirm exactly how title progress behaves when a season changes.
