Kingdom Hearts on Nintendo Switch is played through cloud streaming, not from a full game installed on the console. You need a stable internet connection throughout play. Nintendo does not publish a Kingdom Hearts-specific minimum internet speed or guarantee for latency, frame rate, or resolution, so try the free demo on the connection you plan to use before buying.
Which Kingdom Hearts games are on Switch?
Nintendo lists three cloud editions and a bundle containing all three. Square Enix describes the three volumes together as ten games and cinematic experiences. The US bundle listing says its items can also be purchased individually.
| Edition | Included content |
|---|---|
| KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX Cloud Version |
|
| KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Cloud Version |
|
| KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC) Cloud Version | Kingdom Hearts III and its Re Mind DLC. |
| INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE for Cloud | Bundle containing all three cloud editions. |
Nintendo’s US listings show February 10, 2022 as the release date for the cloud editions and bundle. Check the local Nintendo storefront for the titles and purchase options available in your region.
What internet and account requirements apply?
- Internet throughout play: Nintendo says cloud games require a stable, consistent high-speed connection. The game is streamed from a server, so the full software is not downloaded to the console. If the connection becomes unstable, Nintendo says the service may disconnect after a few minutes. Nintendo’s Cloud Versions of Games FAQ explains the general requirement.
- No published Kingdom Hearts speed threshold: Nintendo’s reviewed guidance does not specify a minimum Mbps for these titles. A speed test or advertised ISP rate alone cannot establish how reliably the stream will work where you play.
- Nintendo Account: You need one to purchase full access. Nintendo Switch Online is not required just to play a cloud version, though a game’s separate online features may have their own requirements.
- Region: Nintendo’s FAQ lists cloud versions as available in the United States and Canada. Availability depends on the relevant local storefront; check Nintendo’s listing if you are elsewhere.
- Storage: The US listings for 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 each show a 77 MB launch application. That is not the full game download and does not indicate the bandwidth needed to stream.
How to check whether your connection is suitable
- Open the Nintendo eShop listing for the Kingdom Hearts cloud edition you are considering and select its free demo, where available. Nintendo recommends trying the demo before purchasing.
- Play it using the same console location, Wi-Fi band or wired setup, and household network conditions you expect to use for the full game.
- Notice whether the stream stays connected and feels responsive during ordinary play. The demo is a practical test of your current setup, not a guarantee: congestion, interference, or other changes can affect a later session.
- Bear in mind that Nintendo says cloud-game trials are limited and cannot be reset. Use the available trial to test the conditions that matter to you.
What performance can you expect?
Official Nintendo materials give connection advice and compatibility information, not measured Kingdom Hearts stream results. They do not establish a title-specific minimum speed, latency threshold, frame rate, resolution, bitrate, server location, or uptime guarantee. Actual performance depends on the connection and network environment where you play.
#1 Best Overall
- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
- Dock that supports 4K when connected to a compatible TV*
- GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play
For that reason, there is no evidence-based basis here to rank Switch, Switch Lite, OLED, or Switch 2 by Kingdom Hearts stream quality. The most useful comparison is between your own network setups: consistency and responsiveness in the place you play matter more than an advertised broadband speed by itself.
Ways to improve a cloud connection
Nintendo’s cloud-game connection guidance recommends a persistent, stable high-speed connection and suggests these steps:
Rank #2
- 6.2” LCD screen
- Three play modes: TV, tabletop, and handheld
- Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer
- Detachable Joy-Con controllers
- Nintendo Switch is the home of Mario & friends
- Check whether other people or devices are using substantial bandwidth, and reduce that competition while playing.
- Use a wired connection to the router if practical. For docked play, a compatible USB Ethernet adapter may be an option depending on the dock and setup; Nintendo does not endorse a particular model or promise that an adapter will fix stream problems.
- If using Wi-Fi, try the 5 GHz band. If it performs poorly in your environment, Nintendo suggests testing 2.4 GHz instead.
- Place the console and router in central, open positions with a clear line of sight where possible. Keep them away from walls, large metal objects, and other electronics.
These are troubleshooting recommendations, not guarantees of a particular frame rate or latency.
Does Kingdom Hearts Cloud Version work on Switch 2?
Nintendo’s US listings state that the 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 cloud editions are supported on Nintendo Switch 2, with game behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch. That is a compatibility statement, not a claim that Switch 2 improves latency or stream quality. Check the current listing for each title and region; the cited compatibility details do not establish the same status for every cloud edition or storefront.

How does the Switch 2 collection differ?
Square Enix’s North American store lists KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I–III] for Nintendo Switch 2 with an October 8, 2026 release date. The store says its physical version requires an internet connection and an additional data download. It is therefore a different format from the Switch cloud editions, but the listing does not describe it as wholly playable offline. Availability and details should be checked on the current regional store page.
